Server Issues Hamper Hybrid's Launch

Update: The server issues have been resolved and the game is now available for purchase on Xbox Live Arcade. 5th Cell creative director Jeremiah Slaczka issued the following statement:

We have worked with Microsoft to diagnose and resolve the server issue surrounding Hybrid. Our entire team appreciates the overwhelming response of fans logging in on day-1 and for bearing with us during this short downtime. We expect a smooth gameplay experience from here on out.

Original Story: Hybrid, the new cover-based online shooter from developer 5th Cell, ran into server issues today during the game's launch. The issues have caused Microsoft to remove the game temporarily from the Xbox Live Arcade store.

"We have identified a problem and are in the process of finding a solution," a studio representative said in a statement to Game Informer. "We will make the game available as soon as we can and apologize for the inconvenience.”

Hybrid is one of five titles that are part of Microsoft's Summer of Arcade promotion.

Comments
  • I feel bad for the people that actually bought it.

  • This game looked good. Hopefully I stopped you scoundrels.

Edit: Guess not. However someone else did.
  • Now that's just unfortunate.

  • No surprise, every game with an interesting multiplayer or onlne will have server issues when games get launched. Maybe some multiplayer or online games didn't have launch server issues.

  • I was wondering why I couldn't download a trial.

  • Played 1 game before servers went down. Shame cause its really good. Hoping they resolve it soon.

  • I need to pick this game up when it gets back on the marketplace. Been wanting to try it and I've got some extra points lying around.

  • Unfortunate to hear, game looks promising. Hopefully they will have it up and running again soon! I'd like to play the trial for it

  • Hey Jim are you guys doing a review of hybrid?

  • speaking of which, is there a review for this out? Or is that not happening?

  • Hate to be 'that guy' but if this wasn't a multiplayer-only game, then the current problem would be much smaller and they wouldn't have had to take it out of the store completely. This and the fact that the game becomes unplayable when others stop playing it/the servers retire. A terrible business model, turns the entire thing into a slightly extended rental.

If only it had a single player of some kind, if even just a small arena type thing. Then we could all be playing it by ourselves right now while they fix the multiplayer servers.
  • Now I'm not so certain that I will actually buy this game...  Yeah. I'm holding off on this one. Persona 4 Arena just came out, and I've got Last Story and Transformers:FoC to pick-up before the end of the month; I don't need to take my chances on a horse that injured itself getting out of the gate.

  • Well, hopefully that will be completely fixed soon...

  • This looks like it could be good. Too bad I don't have a 360...

  • interesting game see maybe game kind ps3 or xobx 360

  • well, that sucks. but it's good that it's fixed now! let the blasting of faces COMMENCE!

  • They resolved that pretty fast. Isn't 5th Cell the people that make Scribblenauts?
