The lights are on
Microsoft Windows general manager Brian Hall is probably going to get a talk from his bosses about a comment he made on a recent podcast. Hall said a new Xbox is on the way.
"We've operated Hotmail for about 16 years, we obviously have Exchange and Outlook that people use at work, and we just decided it was time to do something new and bring the best from each of those and put them together and release it right in time for the new wave of products that we have coming out with Windows 8, with the new version of Office, with the New Windows Phone and the new Xbox," he said on The Verge.
When asked about Brian's comment, Microsoft said in a statement, "Xbox 360 has found new ways to extend the console lifecycle by introducing controller-free experiences with Kinect and re-inventing the console with a new dashboard and new entertainment content partnerships. We are always thinking about what is next for our platform and how to continue to defy the lifecycle convention."
In March, Microsoft denied it would be showing new Xbox hardware at E3 2012, and the company stuck to its word. Right now, all we have are rumored reports and developer job listings pointing at next generation console development. A new Xbox reveal at E3 2013 seems likely at this point. Now we just have to wait.

There will clearly be a new Xbox on the way at some point, we all know it. Based on the statement included in the story, nothing was given away.
I just would like to say, I went to a college with my class a few years back, where you could go and talk with people with different jobs in the IT industry, and listen to presentations, and the guy from Microstoft said they would probably show it at E3 2010 or 2011. So don't expect anything. He also said it was red.
I'm hoping that this Xbox will have some form of optional hardware updates to make it last much longer.
I can hardly wait to be entertained with the new Xbox.
Mountain out of a molehill. Please.
So is it going to be Xbox 8 or Xbox Metro?
i have no opinion. new xbox was inevitable, as is a new playstation. until i see some hardware specifications, and word from decent third party developers that they will be using the console for games, i don't care.
Sweet. Xbox 720 :D
cool, but there is NO way i am going to buy a new console....current consoles still got a LOT of life left in them.
I don't know. I don't think I will be picking up the latest microsoft OS, Phone, or Console anytime soon. I am happy with what I have and really don.t see the need to change anything unless there is a few WOW endusing titles on the system first.
The 360 has been here for a while, but lets face it, it can't live forever. the 720 seems so close, give me some ideas and opinions guys. But the 360 will keep on going for a while in my opinion......HALO 4....yes
Why would he get in trouble for basically saying what everyone knows? It's not like Microsoft isn't working on another console. Everyone knows they are, even though it might be a few years out still.
I don't see what's wrong with his comment. We all know a new Xbox is coming; that's not news. So MS can tiptoe all they want and continue treating their customers like absolute buffoons if they think nobody thinks it's on its way.
I'm not getting on you GI, but is it really news that there will-eventually-be a new XBox? In related news, Japan and its surrounding islands will at some point be experiencing some seismic activity.
Honestly I just want playing online with friends to be free then we can talk more.
These new machines are rumored to have blue rings of life!
I kinda think this wasn't a mistake.
He confirmed what we have deeply known in our hearts for a while.
