Way Of The Samurai 4 Release Date Announced

Publisher XSeed Games has officially announced the release date for PS3 downloadable exclusive Way of the Samurai 4.

The game comes out on August 21 for $39.99, and the action title is set in post-isolationist Japan in the 1800s where you can choose to align yourself with three factions (shogunate pro-government forces, nationalistic isolationists, or the incoming Europeans) and experience one of 10 possible endings.

As editor Kyle Hilliard (who is playing the game currently, so look for his online review on August 21) explained, "You talk to people and then cut them up with your sword...or don't cut them up."

  • I'm certainly looking forward to it!
  • One of my favorite moments in gaming is picking the jerk dialog options at the begining of the first Way of the Samurai. You ended up tied to the train tracks and could die moments later if you still continued taunting. Still waiting for a good sequel.

  • OUSS!

  • Sounds like Samurai to me. ;-)

  • I'm a sucker for anything samurai.
  • glad it has a release date and glad it is reasonably priced.  will still wait for reviews though.

  • I've already played the other three, so I might as well play the fourth.

  • ^^  i've been waiting to see when this was gonna release ..  wish it had disc format tho  i hate downloading full games ( low on space)

  • A little off topic but, Square enix needs to bring back Bushido Blade.

  • this would be the perfect time to do way of the samurai for a replay!
  • I loved the first one. But it went in downard spriral afterwards. Hope this one turns out at least half way decent.

  • These games are fun, and I liked the previous 3. Hope this one is good as well.

  • someone needs to do a game about the orgin of the  katana, would be epic

  • On my radar....waiting for the review

  • If this game got a bigger budget and was taken a bit more seriously, best samurai game ever. Imagine a Bioware driven story over the entire island of Japan.
  • Hmm...I don't think this is going to turn out very well.
  • I remember playing the first one and thinking it was fairly decent. After that I didn't touch the series because they seemed extremely mediocre.

  • To make a game for multiple platforms, and then make the sequel to it exclusive...having a hard time understanding.

  • I'll look into it
