Playing Darksiders Nets You Bonus Items In Sequel

THQ revealed a special bonus armor and weapon for those who completed or played the first Darksiders game. If you simply played the game, you'll be able to unlock the Pauldron of the Horsemen, a level 5 armor that boosts all of Death's stats and critical damage. If you finished the first game, you unlock a level 1 scythe called the Chaos Fang, which boosts Death's damage and critical damage.

THQ says the in-game bonus items are based on Achievements you have unlocked, not the save file.

Darksiders II is out August 14.

  • I Love that I just finished the first game! So good, worth the time and really gets me pumped for Darksiders 2!
  • Thats awesome i love it when sequels reward  you for playing the previous entries.

  • Would this still apply after the game came out? Like if I were to finish the first one after starting the second, would I still get the items?
  • Cool.

  • nice way to treat the true fans of the series, but good to see some new ones come on board.

  • It's good to see more devs embracing this concept recently. Gamers will always want to feel appreciated or be rewarded for their loyalty. Adding little things like this is a nice way of saying thanks.
  • AWESOME!!! I'm so happy they based it on achievements...free items comin my way! WooHooo!
  • Woohoo! I love it when devs reward gamers for playing the earlier games in a series. Can't wait for Darksiders 2!

  • Sweeeeet :)

  • Cool, I have still yet to play the first one.  Glad I got another reason to.  Time to go to Gamestop!

  • Awesome. More games need to reward you like this.

  • I'm loving this game more and more.

  • Still gotta finish Darksiders, mop up a few trophies while I'm at it. Luckily (and sadly?), I'm putting Darksiders 2 on backlog for a while.

  • good thing i both played and beat the 1st darksiders

  • First review came out a few days ago with a 93% rating. So pumped for this!!!
  • Good thing it's trophy related! I lost the save file along with my old PS3, but the plat still is there <3

  • Now if BGS would give you Skyrim items for playing Oblivion, then it would be even better. Maybe a Daedric Sword and extra Gold for every hour spent in the game? It never gonna' happen though.
  • Guess it's time to finally finish this one. Good thing I've got a 3 day weekend.
