The lights are on
LucasArts President Paul Meegan stepped down from his position today after joining the company two years ago. All current LucasArts projects will continue, a representative confirmed to Game Informer.
“Paul has been a valuable member of the Lucasfilm leadership team and
we wish him the best in his future endeavors," said COO Mich Chau. "We remain committed to
our current projects and will be re-evaluating LucasArts’ leadership
needs to ensure that we make the right decisions to keep the studio
LucasArts says 2 members of its leadership team, Kevin Parker and Gio Corsi, will co-lead the studio for the interim until a replacement is found. Last month, LucasArts lost creative director Clint Hocking to Valve.
"...ensure that we make the right decisions to keep the studio focused." I guess there was a disconnect between focuses of "we" and Paul. So, they agreed to disagree and parted ways. How very corporate-fairy-tale like. Could I please have the crass, board-room bickering, Rated-R, Flying-F version of the story? AKA...you wanted to do what? YASWG? (Yet Another Star Wars Game)
Battlefront 3 and some closure with Republic Commando 2. Better yet, combine them creating an awesome first person online multiplayer, a crazy galaxy-wide story, and classic instant action.
reevaluating. maybe put a star wars fan in charge instead of these welchian businessmen.
Hopefully this man actually can distinguish fan service between gimmicks, and give us the sequels, or story arcs that we have desired in Star Wars games for a while, not to mention some decent non-StarWars titles. Lucasarts lost their luster a LONG time ago. If they want it back, 1313 better be only the beginning of a new generation of their titles.
yea they better still be on. Id be pissed if they discontinued star wars 1313.
It seems people are leaving a sinking ship. They have one of the most ridiculously awesome universe, and the keep squandering it on games like the force unleashed which have been plaqued with poor execution and bad decisions like making a sequel only an hour long. I mean come on the comercials were longer than the game and looked cooler to.
This might affect 1313's production or on the other hand breath new life into the project. When games based on the franchise that funds Lucasarts receive better treatments from studios not under Lucasarts, there are bound to be changes to keep up. For the longest time I have felt that Lucasarts needs to restructure and rethink its corporate strategy. Whether its pursuing creative projects originating not from its golden goose or keeping projects that have nothing do with the Skywalkers, I am looking at you "Star Wars: Underworld" cancellation, the synergy needs changing.
I hope this doesn't affect Battlefront III XD
Pfew, I thought this would mean the cancellation of 1313.
i dont know why anyone would leave lucasarts
Wow, I've been out of the SW loop for far too long.
And not a moment too soon.
if they would make battlefront and knights of the old republic on consoles they would still have all of our attention. I have been wanting to play these games on a new gen system and thay failed to bring them out. Whats there to lose?
I bet money he wants to be with Rocksteady studios.
I really wish they would release Battlefront 3. I hope the new guy wants it as much as we do.
