Oculus Rift Kickstarter Announced

by Jim Reilly on Aug 01, 2012 at 09:00 AM

Fans of virtual reality gaming may be interested in a new headset project call Rift. The developer behind it, Oculus, is seeking funding through Kickstarter.

The new headset is developed specifically for video games and will "change the way you think about gaming forever." The team is seeking a pledge goal of $250,000 and has already received support from the likes of Gabe Newell from Valve, John Carmark of id Software, and Cliff Bleszinski of Epic Games.

"All of us at Oculus are excited to bring truly immersive VR to people who love video games like we do,” Oculus founder Palmer Luckey says. “Virtual reality has been the long sought after Holy Grail, which most people only ever dreamed of... until now.

The Rift is a true game changer that will help make VR the standard for gameplay in the very near future.”
