The lights are on
Publisher Take-Two has reported a $110.8 million loss for the first quarter of this year, and the company has specifically cited lower-than-expected sales of Max Payne 3 and Spec Ops: The Line for the dip.
The publisher did not cite sales numbers or expectations for the pair, but in a conference call Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said, "As a hit-driven entertainment company, not every title we produce will meet our sales targets." According to Gamasutra, analyst targets for Take-Two's first quarter was approximately $255 million.
The good news for the company is that digital sales were up 33 percent.

I wish Max Payne 3 did better, it is easily my favorite game of 2012.
Max Payne 3 is a fantastic game, shame not many people bought it. Spec Ops, on the other hand, was terrible. (The shooting was lackluster and the story just didn't interest me). When Borderlands 2 releases, they are going to do better.
Now I feel bad for borrowing Max Payne 3 from my cousin.
I love max payne 3 so much this is heart breaking to me. But it makes me feel better that i got the special editon of this game but i hope this dont stop them from making a max payne 4 in the future.
But MP3 was awesome. >:
Max Payne 3 has been one of the best games I have played this year. It's a shame it didn't sell better.
aww... such a shame that happens.
i've played both titles and they were great, i donno why does this happen!
maybe they had published the game in bad time... or something else.
wish them to continue the franchises.
That's a shame. I have really enjoyed Max Payne 3. The single player was incredible. Great story, good gameplay, kept me hooked. The multiplayer is a lot of fun. I hope they decide to do a sequel.
that sucks, I bought max payne day one and am still enjoying, im interested in spec ops, but it seemed like a title worth waiting and picking up used at a lower price.
Max Payne was amazing, it's a shame more people didn't make the purchase. I hope this doesn't affect the company too much, I'd hate to see people out of jobs or them not producing the type of high quality games like this one.
I wanted to try both, but 60 is too much at the moment for something I might not play anymore
It's probably because they're single player-focused.
Max should have sold more
They said that Max Payne 3 sold 3 million copies, what was their target then 5million?
wow that sucks cause I have both games and both are really good games worth consumers time. i spit on the a***holes who say the gameplay sucks on spec ops or that the multiplayer for max payne 3 is trash cause both are most defenitly not true!!!!!!! BUY THESE GAMESSS!!!!!!
Well I didn't buy either, but that's still lame.
While I didn't pick up Spec Ops: The Line, I did get Max Payne 3.
