Limbo Dev's Next Game Still Two Years Out

by Jeff Cork on Jul 30, 2012 at 06:35 AM

PlayDead's atmospheric platformer Limbo wowed audiences when it was released more than two years ago. It's understandable that fans are interested in seeing what the studio has in the works. Those fans are about to get a lesson in patience.

PlayDead game director Arnt Jensen told IGN that the follow-up, known only as Project 2, is at least two years away, thanks to the company's insistence on quality. “We took a lot of financial risk to release Limbo only when we felt it was ready and we are prepared to do so again,” Jensen said.

Jensen also told the site that the game is being developed on the Unity engine, which makes it easier to port across a variety of platform. When asked if that meant that Project 2 could be making its way onto next-gen consoles, he responded that they want as many players as possible to play their game. Make of that what you will.

PlayDead studio head Dino Patti also fielded a few questions about the game, which was first revealed on a product listing from the Danish government. It looks as though Patti's initial plan on not talking about it until it was two weeks or so away from release didn't work out.
