Why Hasn't Bethesda Announced Dawnguard For PS3 Or PC?

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's first downloadable expansion, Dawnguard, was originally planed as a 30-day exclusive for Microsoft. That expired yesterday, but there is still no word on a PS3 or PC release for Dawnguard.

In a recent Twitter post, vice president of Bethesda Softworks Pete Hines said, "We have not announced Dawnguard for any other platform, nor given a timeline for any such news. If we have news, I promise I'd tell you."

We're sure that's not what PS3 or PC user want to hear, but hopefully we'll hear an update about these version soon.

  • im all for systems having there own exclusive content but to release a multi-platform game and to ignore one of the consoles dose not seem fair. i for one have both xbox and ps3 but decided to help support the ps3 sales, and because of that now i get late patches and not even a word concerning weather or not i will have a chance to play Dawnguard. I would hope they decide to make a new DLC that is ps3 exclusive to even things out a little. or at least release Dawngaurd on ps3 and let us ps3 owners get it for free or half of. But hey this is just my opinion

  • Again, exclusivity deals do nothing but piss off the 66% or more people who are being left out in the cold. People who are downloading it on the Xbox 360 aren't saying to themselves "Gee this is awesome I get to play it before those other consoles". However, people on the "other" consoles and PC are saying to themselves "Well Gee, I guess the $60 that I spent to support the developer and the game wasn't as appreciated as the $60 Xbox owners spent. I guess my loyalty means nothing to Bethesda". In my local EB shop, there is about 6 bajillion used copies of Skyrim, mostly ALL of them are 360 versions. Funny, considering both the PS3 and 360 version sold very well, yet only 360 owners traded their copies in. What I love even more about these "Exclusive" deals, is when Xbox has an exclusive deal, like this, you NEVER hear any prominent editor or journalist make a fuss about it. However, when the PS3 has some exclusive deal, they go on rants and post articles and b*tch on their podcasts about how these exclusive deals are terrible for business and how it is just upsetting gamers. They never open their mouths when Microsoft has the exclusive deal. Yet, if Sony has it they never shut their damn mouths.
  • Well, consider the situation with the patch delays.

  • Cool

  • Cool

  • I wonder if Microsoft is still paying for it's exclusivity then.

  • What the hell?! Does this mean it will never come out for other systems?

  • All my friends on the PS3 are flipping *** over it too. Kinda funny for me. ;-)

  • That's ok Bethesda, no ones in a hurry for your bug crazy BROKEN DLC anyways, that's what your regular games are for!
  • At least some news outlets are finally talking about what amounts to a total middle finger to the PS3 crowd, of which I am a member. Almost everyone on the Bethesda PS3 forums has been pleading for some news, and then Beth spokespeople act like telling us that there is no news is the answer. They clearly don't care, and Game Informer, which I normally respect, decided they didn't care either (until now, when other outlets have noted it), despite the fact that PS3 owners have been completely screwed over on a game they paid the same amount for and thus far have gotten much less, including the courtesy of news.
  • As a responsible consumer I'll try this expansion first when available before buying it. Long live the Pirate Bay :)
  • Bethesda you need to know that i have *** to do!!! so I'll wait...

  • I would like to speak to the root of the issue: for a game like this, which is functionally identical across its release platforms, how is it in the interest of the developer or publisher to grant any one version early access - sorry, but the misuse of 'exclusive' as a synonym for 'early access' needs to stop! - to a particular DLC pack?

  • What is it with all of these game companies making things come out for the Xbox 360 first? Seriously. The PS3 and 360 are all the same. The game companies just want money and Microsoft pays.
  • The lack of a PC announcement is somewhat surprising, since Bethesda has always been a strong supporter of the platform, and has encouraged user-created mods of all it's past games. The lack of a PS3 version, however, isn't all that shocking. The PS3 version of Skyrim is riddled with issues, and it could be a case of Dawnguard not running worth a sh*t or being bugged to all hell. I wouldn't rule out an "Ultimate Edition" of Skyrim on PS3 with the bugs worked out and patches already applied, plus Dawguard, on-disc. Just give it time.
  • Thanks for the update Ben Reeves.

I guess PS3 owners should be glad that Microsoft didn't pay for exclusive rights to any and all Skyrim patches. :P

Keep your *** add on,  Bethesda,  I didn't want it anyways.

  • too bad i guess

  • Here's a suggestion to those waiting on Dawnguard: Go play Morrowind: Game of The Year Edition. If you get it for PC, also get the Morrowind Graphics and Sound Overhaul Mod. Seriously, Morrowind is the best game in the series.
  • thats bill s h i t they said it would be a month after for them to say they never gave a time line is a lie. f u c k bethesda im pissed. i wouldnt be if they never said it was coming out 30 days after
