Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Announced

Square Enix announced it has rebranded Final Fantasy XIV to "A Realm Reborn," previously known as "Version 2." The publisher claims the game is being rebuilt from the ground up. Both the PlayStation 3 and PC versions are due out "soon," Square Enix says.

"Since announcing our plans for the future of the title last October, we have been working tirelessly to include all of the elements that we have promised in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, which we announced today," says game director Naoki Yoshida.

"This new title not only becomes a symbol of a completely new Final Fantasy XIV, but also marks the beginning of a new stage as the latest title in the Final Fantasy series. I hope you're looking forward to it!"

I'm excited about the PS3 version. I hope they made it better. I haven't played it yet, but with all the complaints I read I trust the masses that it needed some fixing.

So is this the next numbered title in the series? Either way I won't be getting it if it's not open world, I really didn't like 13 and it linear path. And does anyone think it's possible to port FF12 to the vita?

here's hoping they fixed all of the issues with this game. I've often heard there's a solid game underneath all of the mistakes.

...Isn't this like a brand new storyline and such? Why don't they just call it 15? -.- And also, this is neato, and I might get it, based on reviews, but I'd much rather see NA release dates for Type-0 and Versus. Seriously, Squenix, get your priorities straight, seriously.

This game is like a bad girlfriend; it doesn't matter how much she says she changed - if the relationship sucked the first time, there is an overwhelming chance it will a second time. Just move on and play a different game, because God knows there are plenty of them.
