Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition Coming This September

The upcoming remake of Baldur's Gate is coming to PC on September 18, developer Overhaul Games announced. Versions for iPad and OSX are due in the same month while an Android version is coming later.

Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition for PC includes three new characters: Dorn Il-Khan, Neera the Wild Mage, and Rasaad yn Bashir. There's also one new area: The Black Pits. Additionally, the team is adding new voice sets, support for high-resolution displays, "400 improvements to the original game" and improved mulplayer support, which includes connectivity between all platforms.

The PC version is releasing digitally through Beamdog for $19.99. Head over to the official website for more.

  • Nice. I never got to play this. Time to change that.
  • Yes! I've been meaning to play this for a long time, and now I can! More catching up to do, then.
  • No PSN release? No play.
  • Dear Lord my personal time is now lost.

  • NICE fantastic news i *** love the BG series, it's one that i replay usually once a year, SO much replay value, gamer's these days don't KNOW replay value unless you played these old school CRPGS

  • WTF is Beamdog?
  • more loot!

  • "Rasaad yn Bashir" and the other names sound like nonsense.

  • Oh my god that's a widescreen shot! :)

Very giddy for this. I've been looking forward to replaying this masterpiece (this is literally on everyone's top RPG's of all time - or it should be!), but the archaic UI and lack of high resolution/widescreen support turned me off.

This is now fixed in this version and we get new content to boot!

  • Excellent! Personally, I thought the sequel was better, but I can't deny the impact of this game. Now, if they could only do the same with Planescape: Torment...

  • My fanboy fantasies have been answered! :3

  • Easily the best time I've ever had in front of a CRT monitor. Makes me think of my younger days.

  • I played this game and the sequel for hours on end by myself and with friends on the PC. Hopefully they will release a demo for the iPad, and if they don't do something dumb (like give you a virtual d-pad or analog stick), I might end up with the iOS version just for something a bit different.  Also I read that the game will offer cross-platform support (although the iOS version will have DLC for some elements that come with the PC version).  I wonder if that is just PC/Mac or if that includes iOS too (all three would be awesome =).

  • Time to see what all the fuss is about.

  • i bet those fixes are straight out of the G3 fix and ease of use packs. Hopefully with this HD infinity engine we can see proper HD mods for all the infinity engine games IW, Torment
  • I'm a little sad that it won't be coming to Steam, but that's not going to stop me from getting it as soon as I get some money.

  • *Click through the main site* *Pump fists at the Mac OSX date* *Wince upon thinking about all the other games I'll have to dual boot to play* Well, at least I'll finally get a chance to see what all my friends were on about. I was a bit young when this first came out, and have just plain had issues running it on current generation computers since. This'll be a great opportunity for some old school gaming.
