World of Warcraft: Mists Of Pandaria Release Date

Blizzard has revealed the release date for the fourth expansion for World of Warcraft, Mists of Pandaria. The company has also unveiled details on its collector's edition, which will be available along with the regular version this September.

The expansion is launching on September 25 for the PC and Mac, and it'll set you back $39.99 whether you pick it up at stores or download it from the safety of your own home. If you consider yourself a megafan, there's also the collector's edition, which adds oodles of in-game extras and additional swag. Blizzard says that for the first time, players will also be able to download the digital content from the collector's edition in a special digital deluxe version. It's priced at $59.99, as opposed to the collector's edition's $79.99, and it doesn't include any of the physical materials from the collector's edition.

Here's what Blizzard says you'll be getting from the digital deluxe edition:

  • World of Warcraft In-Game Mount: Take to the skies of Azeroth astride the mystical Imperial Quilen flying mount.
  • World of Warcraft In-Game Pet: Journey across Pandaria with the Lucky Quilen Cub at your side.
  • StarCraft II Battle.net Portraits: Bring the Horde and Alliance rivalry to the far reaches of the Koprulu sector with exclusive Infested Orc and Night Elf Templar Battle.net portraits.
  • Diablo III Banner Sigil and Accent: Display your status as a hero of Pandaria with the iconic markings of World of Warcraft’s newest playable race, the pandaren.

If you pick up the collector's edition, you'll get everything from the digital deluxe edition, as well as the following loot:

  • Collector’s Edition Soundtrack CD: Experience 20 orchestral pieces from Mists of Pandaria.
  • The Art of Mists of Pandaria Book: Explore this 208-page hardcover tome featuring never-before-seen pieces from the expansion, from early concepts to final 3D renderings.
  • Chen Stormstout Mouse Pad: Equip your desk with this special-edition mouse pad featuring the legendary pandaren brewmaster.

Do you think the convenience of the digital deluxe version makes up for not getting the soundtrack, art book, and mouse pad? Does anyone even care about that stuff anymore?

  • Sounds good to me, I was betting on a September release. Now let's bet on how long the servers stay up and functional on the 25th and 26th .
  • Ooooh, wasnt expecting a September release as its such a late anouncement! but hey, thats good!

  • gay
  • Dont care.
  • Wow, this makes me really happy. I've been reading the fan-sites such as mmo-champion daily for a while now just waiting for the release date. Can't wait! Now Andy and adam HAVE to make respec again for WoW!

  • Despite the fact that my interest in WoW isn't very big, it's always good to see a game thrive for over five years...
  • $50 says the expansion will make have at least one character who references or is a caricature of Kung-Fu Panda.
  • I have stopped getting collectors editions unless they are really good. Also wasn't something else from Blizzard supposed to come out this year too.
  • considering how crappy D3 was, I don't expect this to be any good. Blizzard has kind of forgot how to make good games.
  • WOW is to mmo players as the (i) is to apple lovers, it does not matter the content or the power or even if it’s fun or easy to use, put one of these things in the title of your product and they will flock to buy it. Up next the ipaperclip and the newest WOW mount my little ponies. $$$$$$$$
  • This is a game that released back in 2004 and is still heavily populated to this day. Impressive stuff to be sure
  • nope

  • Can't wait!
  • Getting the CE for sure! The artbook is always a treat to sift through. :)

  • War pandas!

  • I couldn't take this game seriously when itty-bitty gnomes with huge creepy eyes were hopping around and one-hit kacking my n00b trial version character. Then they introduce pandas as a playable race. *** PANDAS. How any self-respecting adult can play this game I just don't know.
  • Looks stupid.

  • I clicked on this to see if anyone cared anymore. I have never really been into WOW, but only because it is pay to play. I refuse to play a subscription fee to enjoy a game.  I understand why that model is in place, but I can't invest in a game that will one day just disappear. I need that game to be around long after servers get shut down.

  • Whoa, I'm I out of the loop. I thought that Kung fu Pan...er Mists of Pandaria had already been released.
  • That's not a bad price for the collector's edition, really. I might have to get it and start playing WoW again.
