Reader Discussion: If You Could Delete One Gaming Experience From Your Brain, What Would It Be?

by Kyle Hilliard on Jul 22, 2012 at 08:10 AM

In the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, there is a service that allows you to delete memories from your brain. In the film, it seems to be used exclusively for sour relationships, but why not video game memories?

For me, I think it would have to be the more recent Portal 2, or maybe Limbo. I would love to have the original experience I had with a game like Ocarina of Time all over again, but if I were to delete my memories of that game, I don't think I would have the same experience I had back then if I played it now.

Both Portal 2 and Limbo provided similar experiences of world discovery and puzzle solving that offered frequent waves of epiphany. I have replayed both of those games multiple times, but nothing could ever live up to my original experience. I would love to re-experience my original experience, all over again.

What about you? Are there any games you would like to strike from your memory so that you could play them again totally fresh without spoilers?
