Manos: Hands Of Fate Game Coming To Mobile Devices

Manos: Hands of Fate is a terrible, terrible movie. Hopefully it will make for a better game.

If you're unfamiliar with Manos, it's a movie that shows up on Wikipedia's List of films considered the worst, and on IMDB's bottom 100. I became aware of it, as I am sure many did, from its appearance on Mystery Science Theater 3000.

It's really bad, which is why its becoming source material for a video game from developer FreakZone is inspired. It takes all the absurd characters and premises from the film, and translates them into an NES inspired platformer. For example, a shot in the film that lingers on a fire in a fireplace for way too long, is turned into a living fireplace boss in the game. It sounds hilarious, and as you can see in the trailer below, it looks a classic NES game.

The game will be available for iOS on July 26, with an Android release planned shortly after. The developers at FreakZone said if the game performs well on iOS, there's a good chance it will also be made available on PC through Steam and maybe even Xbox Live Arcade.     A movie worse than most Uwe Boll movies, wow. Looks like a fun game. I miss my old copy of Maniac Mansion on NES. Microwaving the hamster, priceless. This game reminds me of that.

    Judging by the trailer, this seems like a decent buy. The bright colors, dialogue boxes, and gameplay reminds me of Castlevania.

    The game looks a lot nicer than the movie seems to be (I haven't seen it) I could play this as well as I played a lot of that megaman 8bit game inside MegaMan ZX for DS.

    This is the best idea EVER.

    20 minute driving opening, great Torgo theme music, losing the poodle in the middle of the night (or was that a different MST3K movie?), all make for a brilliant game.

    Edit: watched the video instead of just reading the article. Seems kinda lame. Loosely based off Manos, at best. Sad that it wasn't handled better.

    The RiffTraxx crew (Mike Nelson and some other guys from MST3k) is going to perform a live riff of Manos August 16 that will be simulcast to other theater across the country. Any fan of MST3K should check it out. I've gone to a few Cinamatic Titanic shows (Joel and a lot of the rest of the MST crew) and I saw one of the RiffTrax simulcasts and there's something about seeing these with big crowds.

    Battling Torgo in a b-plane!? Now Uwe Boll should make a movie based on this video game. Couldn't be worse than the original, right?
