What's Happening

Weekend Warrior 7/20/12

This weekend, we're going to see The Dark Knight Rises. Then, after that, maybe we'll go see The Dark Knight Rises. Then on Sunday, we'll probably watch The Dark Knight Rises. Batman!

I suppose we'll play some games, too.

Kyle Hilliard: I saw Dark Knight Rises last night, and I want to see it again in IMAX, so that’s a goal. I would also like to catch up on the sleep I lost by going to a midnight show, something I’m not very optimistic about happening. As far as video games go, I’m having a pretty good time with Tony Hawk HD, and I started playing Spec Ops: The Line, so I would like to keep making my way through that.

Jeff Marchiafava: My progress in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood has been completely sidetracked by Rainbow Moon, a fun, downloadable tactical RPG on PSN. I’ve never been a huge tactics fan, and my strategy usually boils down to “hit that monster with the pointy thing in your hand!” but I’ve been enjoying my time with the game. I’ll probably also spend some time playing Pinball FX 2, as Jeff Cork has been on a bender beating the high scores of GI editors.

Joe Juba: I went out and bought a Wii classic controller and some Wii points card, so I'm hoping to spend my weekend with some old SNES classics. Maybe I'll even get to Cave Story (finally)…or maybe I'll just play Super Metroid again.

Ali Rapp: I'm hosting company all weekend, so I won't really be able to play anything until Sunday night. After some Okami and Dawnguard (I miss them so much, you guys), I'd like to get back to Pottermore. The first four chapters of Chamber of Secrets recently went up, and, being a ridiculously humongous Harry Potter fan, I'm psyched.

Tim Turi: This weekend I’m going to be playing a ton of Final Fantasy VI and watching The Dark Knight Rises. In FFVI, I’ll be traversing the floating content and transitioning into the World of Ruin. I’m so excited to see what the game has in store for me after all these dragons and behemoths stop handing me my own rear end.

  • unlike EVERYONE ELSE I wasn't expecting this movie to be "better" than dark knight, I wanted it to be a movie as good as the dark knight and had a perfect ending... THE MOVIE HAD ALL THAT..  And it had those moments where you would go ape ***

  • My weekend will start with me wrapping up my 3rd Mass Effect 3 playthrough (which also included playthroughs of ME 1 & 2) and then me starting The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.  I also might take over the world.

  • Oh, and I already saw The Dark Knight Rises.  Loved it.  TDK is still the best of the trilogy, in my opinion, but TDKR is a close 2nd.

  • batman. oh god batman. I want you batman. actually, F you batman, I want Bane.

  • I'll be sending a long time friend off to China.  It'll be a number of years before we meet in person again.  I will have to play some games to cheer me up this weekend.

  • Some obnoxious audience member two rows behind me kept shouting some very stupid things during the trailers at The Dark Knight Rises, and I was not about to have the movie be ruined by some inconsiderate jerk. Of course, as the movie starts he makes another unwitty outburst. So I reacted in such a way I would never normally behave, I shouted back "shut the f*** up!" loud enough for the entire theater to hear. The rest out the audience immediately laughed and applauded.

As for the remaining weekend I'll be writing, reading some new comic books, and listening to the Shadow of the Colossus soundtrack that just arrived in the mail.
  • Just got back from a hell week of medical treatment so I'll be hopefully playing some of the original Golden Axe series off of XBL & maybe try my hand @ the free terminal map MW3 released trying to recover. Most likely watch movies/Hulu from home, try to sleep a lot till I get my energy & strength back though.
  • I'm going to be playing Black Ops Zombies with the girlfriend, hopefully making some progress on Naughty Bear, and starting Midnight Club LA

  • Work, all weekend.

  • I'm going to an antique aunction this weekend and in extra time I have I might play some Battlefield 3 and maybe play some Sims 3.

  • No BF3?

  • The Dark Knight Rises and FFXIII all weekend long. First Final Fantasy I've played since X on PS2. Its good to come back to a decent game - X destroyed my idea of Final Fantasy, and XIII does little to rebuild my lost faith.

At least it seems to be a decent game thus far, though.

  • Shadows of the Damned, Resident Evil Revelations, Quantum Conundrum, Lego Batman 2. I'm drowning and I like it...

  • im not going to see batman this week out of respect for the victims of aurora shooting...
  • I'm going to go watch it this weekend.....in my Batsuit.
  • Unchained Blades is finally playable on Vita, so I'm playing that all weekend. I don't normally like the old first person dungeon crawling games, but this is one is really fun, fast-paced and has a lot of personality.

  • I really enjoyed TDKR,i am not sure if its as good as TDK but if not then i don't think its a big margin between the two films

    Slight Spoiler below

    No really,slight Spoiler below

I loved how it had an certain video game sequel feel as well :)

  • yeah this movie looks too good to pass up. hopefully tomorrow i'll go see dark knight rises. if not i'll be on MW3 until i fall asleep

  • gonna play some lego indy with my son and kick his butt at some fruit ninja

  • TDKR is the best in the series. It felt the most like a comic and that's the point, is it not? The prison in the pit, if that's not super comic book style I don't know what is. Everyone who thinks the Dark Knight is better just doesn't read comics anymore. That's a shame too, because the new 52 is spectacular.
