Fez Patch Will Not Be Patched

by Ben Reeves on Jul 18, 2012 at 02:40 PM

Last month a Fez patch was pulled because it created a new problem with the game. The patch is back, but it's the same patch, and sadly, it seems like we've seen the last of Fez patches.

According to the Polytron Blog, last month's patch problem will not be resolved because, "Microsoft would charge us tens of thousands of dollars to re-certify the game." The game save problem that some have experienced only effects a very small percentage of the population, and Polytron believes that, "the current patch is safe for an overwhelming majority of players."

If you're just now starting a new game of Fez or haven't yet completed the game, you should be fine. The new bug only seems to effect those who've already completed the game. Read more about that problem here.

Polytron added an apology saying, "To the less-than-1% who are getting screwed, we sincerely apologize. We know this hurts you the most, because you’re the ones who put the most times into the game. And this breaks our hearts. We hope you dont think back on your time spent in FEZ as a total waste."

You can read more about why Polytron won't be fixing the patch here, but if you haven't yet played the game, now is a good time to start.
