The lights are on
According to a source from the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning development team, Electronic Arts passed on a sequel back in March.
Frank Gibeau President of EA labels recently told Game Informer, "We'd love to be a partner for that," when asked about the likelihood of a sequel to Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Despite claiming interest in creating a sequel our source with the development team said, "[Electronic Arts] had first right of refusal and passed back in March."

This needs an online petition started, because this game needs a sequel.
Not to defend EA here but I think they had an idea of the horrible management that Big Huge Games had through 38 Studios. I think they passed not because the game wouldn't sell or that it wouldn't be good but for the reason that 38 was going nowhere.
so does this mean no sequel? or just that ea wont be involved?
Played the demo of the first one...couldn't really get into into it, so a a possible sequel means nothing to me yet again without EA backing it I doubt that their will be many who want to pick the IP up.
ill take my share of the responsibility- i bought my copy preowned- but let ea look at the aftermarket sales of this game as well before condemning the idea of a sequel. new ip is gonna take a bit longer 2 garner the fervent fan base that established ip has.
Yeah, EA is just a big group of lemons.
It's sad to see a great new ip fall when they put out the same sports games every year and same shooters (I have to admit that MOH Warfighter is looking cool).
Another reason to dislike EA. I very much enjoyed KoA and bought the DLC w/ out any hesitation. There were flaws to the game, yeah, but there was a lot of great stuff as well. Would have loved to see a sequel addressing everything 38 said they were going to fix.
Dang that sucks, I really hoped that we could go back this universe because I do believe that this series has some potential.
come on EA.
not surprising since it's EA
It seems that EA wants to be hated.
I've just played the demo and enjoyed myself. Sad to see they won't make a follow-up. Well, all the more reason to get the current one.
Does it even matter anymore? We're just beating a dead horse now, let's put this sad *** behind us.
