Rare Job Postings Hint At Free-To-Play & Next-Gen Projects

by Matthew Kato on Jul 12, 2012 at 05:01 AM

Rare has become recently known for its work with Microsoft's avatars, but the company may have plenty of other plans for its future.

Superannuation at Kotaku has dug up some intriguing job postings by the company. One is looking for an engineer who can, "understand, assess, and be capable of implementing real-time rendering techniques made possible by DirectX 11." Superannuation points out that the current Xbox doesn't support DirectX 11, so this could mean that Rare is cooking something up for the next system, which is very likely.

Rare has also posted a job listing looking for a lead producer that states that experience with online services and free-to-play would be an advantage. It's interesting to hear that given how up to this point Microsoft is notoriously reticent to take on MMOs and other online service models.
