Resident Evil 6 Has 4 Hours Of Cutscenes

Update: Capcom set the following statement to Game Informer:

"While we have not confirmed the final number of cutscenes in the game, the BBFC length also includes death scenes for the six characters in the game, and is not an accurate representation of the actual cinematic cut-scene total, which will be less."

-------------------------------------

The sixth major entry in Capcom's Resident Evil franchise features over four hours of cutscenes, according to a new listing by the British Board of Film Classification.

The rating lists the total runtime of cutscenes at 255 minutes. For comparison, Resident Evil 5 had 65 minutes of cutscenes while Resident Evil 4 had 127 minutes.

  • Bleh. I just downloaded the 3 RE6 trailers on XBL yesterday. The whole time I was thinking, "this looks cool and all but what the hell is going on?" I'm all for a good story, but if the story sucks, the scenes better be skippable.
  • Resident Evil: A Hideo Kojima production
  • Wonder if they're unskippable?
  • I'm loving this game even more!
  • I don't care how many cutscenes there are as long as they're entertaining or interesting.
  • Man, Capcom just keeps giving me new reasons not to buy this game. Putting so much focus on story, when Resident Evil's storyline is one of the most absurd I've ever exsperienced, is not a good idea. Their focus should be on delivering compelling gameplay and level design, and from what I've seen from RE6 gameplay videos, I haven't been impressed by these aspects of the game.
  • Sweet. I've always been a fan of Re's cutscenes. Hope they include the option to view them again like in the last few games.
  • Still won't be as delicious as MGS cutscenes.
  • holy crap. thats alot. wonder what the Xenosaga cutscene time adds up to lol.
  • I buy a game to play it... Not watch a movie.
  • That's what it seemed like in the demo.

EDIT: I'm also not impressed by it. Too much action (Leon's campaign might be the saving grace) and a horrible camera.

EDIT 2: Hopefully the cutscenes are evenly spread out through the three campaigns.
  • I know this sort of thing (hands-off gaming) turns many gamers off, but it's always spoke to my sensibilities... most certainly a selling point.

Although, in fairness RE cutscenes, since 4 anyway, haven't exactly been hands-off considering the need to act during reactionary moments - I'm all for 'QTE'
  • Thats insane.
  • Is anybody really going watch 4 hours of cutscenes?
  • Thats a big a meat a ball!

  • Nice lots of story! I loved all my cutscenes in guns of the patriots s this doesn't really bother me

  • Not a surprised. There are three campaigns in the game.
  • I like cut scenes,I'll make sure to get this one.

  • Good, more games need long, well-produced cutscenes.
