The lights are on
The upcoming Assassin's Creed movie will star Michael Fassbender, who most notably played Magneto in X-Men: First Class and David in Prometheus.
"Michael Fassbender was our first choice to play the franchise's iconic hooded hero," Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures told Variety in an interview. "Michael is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor."
Fassbender, who will also co-produce the film, recently had roles in Haywire and Shame. The report says Ubisoft will develop the film internally but could still distribute it through Sony.

great pick from Ubisoft.. my pick to play Ezio is Aaron Johnson from Kick-a$$; anyone remember him?
I am honestly very excited for this after reading about it. The fact that Ubisoft is developing the film internally should be enough to get anyone excited. This could be the video-game based film that breaks the mold and becomes successful while sticking to what made the games great. Having Michael Fassbender play one of the assassins is also a bonus! I loved his acting in both X-Men: First Class and Prometheus. If any video-game based movie project has ever had a shot at succeeding, it would be this one.
Bought time they got cracking on it.
This is gonna be a great film
Michael should be cast to play Daniel Cross. Just a opinion.
Not Sony!!!! oh that's a mistake
I hope this ends up good and not just another on the list of failed video-game movies.
He was excellent in X-men: First Class and Prometheus; I'd certainly watch this if he starred in it.
Wait, there's an AC movie coming out with the guy who voiced Logan in Fable 3? Where in the hell- WIKIPEDIA. Y U NO TELL ME THIS?
Don't screw this up Ubi!!!!!!!!
Fassbender is a class-A talent. This news certainly bodes very well for the film, especially coupled with the fact that Ubisoft is developing it internally. We might have something of note here, folks.
The last thing we need is an AC movie, the games are bad enough and so convoluted. I bet there is some sort of liberal gibberish spin put on this just like Avatar(aka. Ferngully).
I'm not sure he was the best pick but he is a good actor so I'll give it a chance. I just really hope it does justice to the series and doesn't disappoint the fans.
Interesting enough. He's qualified enough, although I'm still shaky on how this movie could turn out regardless...
I'm not sure how I feel about the movie being developed internally by Ubisoft, but one can only hope that it'll be good.
has a release date been announced for this movie yet?
Idk about Assassin's Creed becoming a movie. Same with Mass Effect. As cinematic and amazing as both games' stories are I just don't trust video game movies. Look at Prince of Persia and Doom! Also Gamer, which wasn't exactly a video game movie but still. That being said I'm glad that Ubisoft is keeping it's franchise to itself so at least it can stay in creative control. If anything this movie will be great just because it has Fassbender. I love that guy, I love Desmond, Altair, and Ezio, and I love the idea of young Magneto playing any/all of them.
Fassbender is good no matter what he plays, so the only reason this movie may suck would be if the script or plot was just terribly written
