Halo 4 Requires 8GB Install For Full Multiplayer

The epic continuation of the Halo series is due in November and, according to 343 Studios, it's almost done -- but fans of the series may have to clean off their hard drives to get the full experience.

The game will require an 8GB install to experience the full multiplayer, which includes your traditional PvP matches, called War Games, and a new mode, called Spartan Ops. The latter mode features a co-op mode that will be be given new episodes each week. The full install size has not been revealed, but it is recommended that players completely install the game to get the full experience.

  • I've got the space!
  • Thats a whole lot of storage space thats needed for just online play. This may be a problem for alot of 360 owners. Even though alot of us have the 60gb or 120gb hard drive, there are still plenty of people that have the smaller hard drives. So I recognize that alot of the people that still have the 20gb hard drive or smaller are in waist high whale crap. I have no idea what they're all gona do. If you have the 20gb one smaller, you're either gona have to clean out most of your hard drive, or just go buy a new one. Tough break guys.
  • Time to clean the hard drive. wow

  • ***. not everybody has new 360's with huge hard drives. guess i need to make room
  • I guess I need to upgrade from my 15GB...

  • Well, I have a 250GB so I would've installed it anyway.
  • Damn

  • guess i gotta buy a new hard drive
  • So you can't play the game without 8GB worth of free space, that seems a bit strange.
  • I wonder if it's just for high res textures like BF3?
  • Not the best news of the day
  • I've got tons of space to fill! Make it 20 gig for all I care! Pack in the goods!!!

  • Um, okay? Is this really a problem for anyone out there? Even if you're keeping every save-file from each game that you play, so long as you don't keep the games themselves saved to your hard drive when you aren't playing them, you should be fine. If there is an actual worry of individuals not having the space to install, I would love to see the percentages of that group versus those that are in the clear; methinks that those put out by this announcement would be in the minority. In any case, I'm fine and looking forward to playing "combat dress-up" with my Spartan IV. I love customization.
  • I've only got 28GB left of my 120GB HD, memory is easy enough to use up without having to use 8GB on installing one game.
  • I've got 270 GB left! B*tch, please.
  • That seems like a lot of space for multiplayer. Sucks to have an older model Xbox 360, but at least they really letting us know 5 months a head of time.
  • That's a lot of bs. If I understand that correctly, you are not recieving the whole game on the disc. Or does this download only mean those dlc releases?
  • Not buying anything in the marketplace pays off!

  • Better games equal more hard drive!
  • I'm glad not every game is like this.
