Total War: Rome II Announced

Sega today announced Total War: Rome II, a sequel to the 2004 hit PC strategy game. Developer Creative Assembly is behind the new game, which is due out sometime next year.

“Our games have always encompassed a grand vision,” says creative director Mike Simpson. “But we’re now pushing that vision at both ends of the spectrum. From the immense reach of the sandbox campaign right down to the human-level drama of a single warrior on the battlefield, we’re aiming for an unprecedented level of detail and scale”.

Total War: Rome II promises "the most expansive turn-based campaign and the largest, most cinematic real-time battles yet seen in any game."

Comments
  • Every time a sequel to a game I love is announced, I get this feeling that my wallet becomes a little bit more depressed than it was!
  • Rome was probably the last Total War game I bought. If this is good, and not as buggy as the last few Total War games, this could bring me back.
  • Alright, I like these games. Should be fun.

  • I KNEW IT!!!! I Knew they would have to go back to Rome eventually and I knew it would be the latest TW to come out! I Freaking Knew IT!
  • My favorite part of the first one was the detail in the cities and how you could look at them even if you werent in battle and just watch the civies walk around. Hope they bring that back
  • Loved the first one. Probably won't play this one, though.

  • Rome: Total War was the first of Creative Assembly's releases I played, and I've been itching for a sequel ever since. Now they just have to top Shogun 2.
  • I would personally have preferred a return to the Medieval setting, however I never really got to experience the previous Rome games as I was too young at the time so I'm looking forward to this.
  • Neat

  • I really wish I could get into turn-based games. I'm just not patient enough I guess.
  • Time to start saving up for a gaming PC. Probably get one when current gen system become unsupported.

  • You spelled announced wrong.

  • This is grand news!

  • I love it when new games are annoucned!
  • ahem, excuse me while i say: SQUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

  • First one is still my favorite by far, and probably one of my favorite games of all time. Was hoping so badly they'd go back to Rome. Best game announcement in years IMO. Can't wait.

  • Fantastic news. It's made my day. Love the Total War series. I've never really got into the first Total War: Rome, I didn't like it that much. However, I love Medieval 2, my current favourite. I also love their recent total war games like Shogun 2. So if it's a major improvement on the first Rome, I'll be happy.

  • Have to worry about performance issues. They are promising the world, but if they try to really do it the thing will require a NEW PC. Watch the release date extend to 2014 as they iron out plenty of bugs due to excessive system requirments. They may build a great game but they will have to wait for the rest of us to catch up with the hardware.
  • yeess! finally i ve been waiting for this for ages!

  • YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
