Battlefield 3 Premium Hits 800K

EA said more than 800,000 players signed up for its Battlefield 3 premium service in the first two weeks.

Speaking to USA Today, EA Games executive vice president Patrick Soderlund said, "We are very pleased with the performance so far." Soderlund also suggested EA could implement similar services for its other products.

"We're actually only two weeks into it, so it's a little early to tell how this is going to pay off," he said. "It certainly it looks very promising right now." Battlefield 3 Premium launched at E3 earlier this month. It provides players with exclusive content and early access to expansion packs.

  • I stil find it ridiculous when someone gets over 48,000 xp in a match due to the stupid double xp weekend.
  • Awesome. I'm proud to say I'm one of the members that signed up for it. It's a madhouse on the Close Quarters maps on PC. Action packed anarchy.

EDIT: Beware of the troll invasion(on some of the brilliant comments below).
  • I was thinking about buying Premium but I am not interested in every expansion pack slated for release.
  • It's definitely worth it.
  • Woww, didnt think it wold sell THAT well...
  • If you plan on buying all the expansions then you might as well just buy premium now to get all the benefits.
  • So, for everyone that made fun of CoD for a paid version, now the BF3 trolls eat it up. I now laugh at you people haahahahhaahaaaaaa!
  • If your heavily invested in the game it really is worth it considering you get all the map packs for a discounted price. I can see virtually every multiplayer game using this type of platform it's pretty much the same thing as a season pass.

  • Over 800,000 paid for a garbage service that EA was making fun of Activision for providing. Enjoy!
  • crap that's $40 million

  • i have it, its worth it for the amount of time i play on it. Especially if you are planning on buying all the maps for it and want extra stuff. T They should add more weapon camo's .. i know its just aesthetic and it doesn't do anything for you in the game .. it just looks cool lol. And i want a cool looking Scar L **BRAAAHHHH**!
  • I'd be interested to know what percent of the people playing Battlefield are on this.

  • Yea, so, I think it's quite a coincidence that as soon me and my buddy downloaded that almost 2 gig update (what exactly was in there?) we started to experience game-breaking lag in every game we entered. I tried the game by myself about a week later and the same thing. Yes, the game lags from time to time but this was a different lag than either of us had experienced in BF before. We haven't played it since. We've discussed it and pretty much decided that if the lag is present next time we play, we're selling the game and ditching the franchise. We believe this mystery lag is somehow connected to Premium, and the fact that we are not fools... I mean members. Have any other non-members experienced this? Is EA trying to force me to re-buy a game I already paid $60 for? If that's the case, BF3 will be sold, I will never buy a BF title again, and EA will be on my s**tlist right above Activision.
  • so basically they copied off elite like ubisoft did with GR:FS with ghost recon network.
  • I signed up i'm glad i did new weapons and the CQ maps are fun and entertaining i just hate some of assignments you have too do in order too get some weapons
  • Lol. EA was making fun of Activision for doing such a thing and now they are doing it. Hell they are even about to implement that crap to its other games now. XD You can cry and hollar all you want battlefield fanboys about how much better you are but your SHEEP.
  • It's annoying how people keep bringing up COD Elite in here. Look they are both services that save you a lot of money. Who cares about the irony of EA doing it now?
  • That's a lot of people in two weeks. I'm not premium but I do often consider buying it.

  • Ok, for everyone that thinks this is the same as elite, there are some big differences offered in this. When you have CoD it is only for a yr and the only thing you get new are maps. If you are lucky they'll bring in game modes. While on Battlefield, you get maps, game modes, weapons, vehicles, camo, dog tags, and on Close Quarters you even got a new knife with new executions and such. From what the two offer there can be no comparison of which is better. Plus, for those CoD fanboys that think Battlefield is slow, well don't talk until you play Close Quarters. Plus, Battlefield was never slow. It's only slow for noobs that do not know how to play. True statements.
  • i was one of those chumps...
