The lights are on
Sony has announced that Kaz Hirai has stepped down from his representative director, chairman role at Sony Computer Entertainment.
That's not to say he's leaving the organization as a whole, however, as he retains his position as president and CEO of Sony Corp. to which he was named in February.
Hirai will also be a part-time member of the SCE board of directors.

This would explain why he didn't make a stage appearance at E3. I thought is was strange that he just watched with the rest of the crowd.
The company is in such a bad state that even Kaz can't fix everything.
From what I've gather from comments on this (from here and other places) no one seems to be reading the story. He's not, I repeat NOT, leaving Sony. He is leaving his position in charge of SCE. Do you think you could be CEO and be in charge of one of their sectors all while trying to fix the company?
Kaz Hirai is a solid dude.
He will still be there
Ah, that's too bad. SCE could use a man like Kaz in charge. I wonder who's taking his place?
Nice to see he's sticking with Sony though, maybe he can focus more on helping the other divisions.
It's only. Been a few months!!!
kaz :( o well i guess it must be hard juggling all that work least hes staying around tho :)
He has only held the position since February? Wonder why he left his fairly new position.
how you get promoted to ceo and then leave?
