Pokémon Black & White 2 Sales Explode In Japan

As if there was any doubt that Pokémon is still a mega franchise. Pokémon Black Version 2 & White Version 2 sales impressed in the first week in Japan.

Famitsu reports combined estimated sales of both versions of the game totaled 1,619,000 units in just two days. This is down from the first Black and White titles, which sold 2,637,285 in the first two days back in 2010.

The game releases this fall in North America.

  • Well ya consdering Pokemon still has a big huge market over there so it doesnt suprise me.
  • Not surprised. Wonder what the international figures will be.
  • Looks like they finally ran out of colors...
  • the legendary dont even look like pokemon anymore??
  • They could've at least called it grey... Pokemon's getting less and less creative!
  • I think buyers were a little more cautious to see how the games turn out since these are the first technical sequels in the series' history. I can't wait to pick these up for myself, but I'm not fluent in Japanese, so I'll wait for the U.S. release.
  • Persona 4 Vita also sold like gangbusters, though not to this extreme. Vita finally got a boost in Japan!

  • pokemon is getting too weird.
  • I thought B&W was brilliant, so it surprises me that the sequel would sell 1M less in the first 2 days.

  • its pokemon. its more milked than call of duty lol.
  • Surprise! Pokemon's still popular.

I'm waiting for the day where you get to customize your character instead of walking around with those weirdos.
  • The sales figures are to be expected Pokemon always sells really well, but I've really been turned off by the franchise ever since I felt the Pokemon started looking more mechanical.
  • bright spot in my day after playing that STUPID extended cut from mass effect 3. i know this has nothing to do with it but i need to rage. pokemon is one of my favorite games and never disappoints. sadly mass effect is no where near it. DIE IN A HOLE BIOWARE.
  • i want infinity rare candy's and master balls
  • Im personally glad they took a break, but still getting this

  • I know this is off subject but I thought I should share this with everyone who enjoys good RPGs. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines lead writer and designer Brian Mitsoda Kickstarter for RPG Dead State. I believe it will be an amazing game and everyone should show their support if possible. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/70755535/dead-state-the-zombie-survival-rpg :)
  • Even though it was down in sales, it's nice to see the franchise that I grew up with is still being enjoyed today!

  • Sales are down mainly because the 3DS has been out for a while now, and it should have been developed for that.  Nintendo is doing what Sony did with the PS2 games still being pushed whiled the PS3 was out.

  • I bet the sales will go up when it comes over here, so I'm not worried.
