The lights are on
If rumors are to be believed, an upcoming Mortal Kombat live-action reboot could be following the exploits of a supermarket employee who finds out he has super powers.
The rumor comes from website BloodyDisgusting.com, which says that the movie will be directed by Kevin Tancharoen, director of the recent Mortal Kombat: Rebirth short and the Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series, and Glee: The 3D Concert Movie.
Bloody Disgusting is saying, "The live-action reboot will follow a lowly unlucky supermarket employee who discovers that he has out of this world powers and must decide between good and evil, even though the evil side has helped him discover his true potential and who he really is."
I haven't played a lot of Mortal Kombat, admittedly, but I don't remember any of the fighters being supermarket employees. Mostly I remember the fighters of Mortal Kombat being monsters, ninjas, or cyborgs. I think there was a police officer at one time. Maybe it's him. Maybe he's the supermarket employee.

I AM THE ULTIMATE EMPLOOYYEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
Wow is this ever a horrible idea. I liked Rebirth and I liked the series that it spawned, so I'll put my faith in Tancharoen that this isn't what he came up with. Otherwise, wow is would this bomb and bomb hard.
Just this morning I woke up and said "Damn, I want to watch a movie about a supermarket employee with super powers."
Thank you Mortal Kombat.
Yeah...not digging the rumored plot. But who knows, the recent live action series is pretty decent.
I am inclined to believe this. Asides of the original MK film, Silent Hill and Resident Evil 1, most videogame movies are just so freaking awful.
I still want to poison the entire cast of the Doom movie, including directors, producers, and writers, for that abomination of one of my favorite franchises.
{double facepalm}
lol there is no way that's true.
Tancharoen, dude, please. Just make it like the web series, only big budget. It'll be amazing. Please.
sigh looks like another potentially awesome thing ruined by hollywood.
sad face.
?
Not remembering evil dead you all disappoint me.
I don't believe it. lies and deceit. This will not go any farther than this. Its like the ignorant idea they had behind the Uncharted movie. Never happen.
god no
Curse the de-imagining of Rebirth, and curse anything that follows it. I can't believe people even thought that Reptile as a harlequin baby and Baraka as a mad doctor who put blades into his arms is cool. Is the fantastic that unpopular?
umm... i guess making him a super market employee makes it more relatable. his fatality will be killing you with a shopping bag after asking if you want paper or plastic. perhaps he runs you over with a shopping cart?
Just don't make a mess of it
