The lights are on
Not everyone is crazy about Xbox 360 achievements, but those of us who get a little giddy when they hear that boop-beep sound could actually cash in on them this fall. An official tweet from the Xbox Live Rewards account says players will have a new way to earn rewards in a few months, related to achievements.
The tweet is more of a tease than an announcement, in spite of what they might say. "We've hit 50,000 followers, which means it's time for an announcement! Coming Fall: a new way to earn Rewards based on your Achievements!"
The Xbox Live Rewards program lets players earn prizes, including Microsoft points, for doing things such as searching on Bing, filling out surveys, and performing certain tasks on Xbox Live. And now it looks like you'll be rewarded for actually playing games. Maybe.
This isn't the first time something like this has happened. We'll have to wait and see if it'll be a sponsored, limited-time-only offer, or a long-term part of the program. One thing's for certain: It sounds more interesting and appealing than searching for stuff on Bing.

That would be cool, encouraging people to buy crappy games to be achievement whores... lol.
I hope this will be worthwhile, I like getting achievements but to be rewarded for getting them would be so much better
This should be interesting.
Finally all the work will be rewarded.
This could be cool. But let's just see where they go with this first.
I hate achievement whores.
My 50,000+ GS is finally going to pay off.
More rewards for things we already do anyway is a good thing.
I hope this happens. I could use extra pooints to get games like portal for free
Hope it's retroactive. Probably won't be, but a guy can dream.
That would be really awsome that will give me a reason to complet some of my games
I got over 30k gamer score, that better add up to something great...
Wait, my 39,000 gamerscore will be worth something?! SWEET!!
for every thousand gamerschore you have you get 10 microsoft points.
its about time they did something like this. i feel like it was always the missing link in the achievements system. simply because without any sort of reward for the achievements they are in the end, arbitrary. sure some people have a personal mission to get every achievement for a game, but ultimately thats just something internal with them, they are not being physically rewarded in any way. avatar awards were a decent implementation but still lacked a significant reason to go after the achievements (how many people actually care about avatar stuff?)
this'll be a nice way to earn, since points dont even post to your account until weeks and months later. smh
ha! all those go getters and completionists out there should be happy
It's about time Microsoft recognizes my 5 years of dedication to their system. I have nearly 40,000 gamerscore and it would be cool if that finally meant something.
