Okami HD Announced

Update: Capcom confirmed the game is coming to North America and Europe this fall for $19.99. It's available through PlayStation Network. This HD version includes PlayStation Move and trophy support.

Per Capcom:

Ōkami HD brings Amaterasu’s epic tale to the PS3 with fully integrated HD graphics and 16:9 aspect ratio. The trademark sumi-e ink art style lends itself perfectly to HD allowing players to experience more of the awe-inspiring world displayed in greater detail than ever before.

Original story: Capcom is releasing a HD remaster of Okami for PlayStation later this year in Japan. Details were confirmed in the latest issue of Famitsu.

The game is called Okami Zekkie-ban, which roughly translates to Okami Magnificent Version. This version will have Move support, but It's unclear if this is based off the Wii release of Okami or the original PS2 game.

Capcom USA has not confirmed if Okami HD is coming to North America at this time.

  • Capcom, you couldn't do a retail version and digital version? I'm still going to buy Okami HD but I would of preferred at least a choice of a retail version instead of being forced to buy the digital version.
  • The whole reason I read this article was to see the comments made up of people asking why FF VII hasn't been remade yet, but I didn't see any, but I didn't look through all the pages of comments.
  • im getting this day one...why cant western studios sell their remakes at this price point???? i guess capcom learn from their mistakes and trying to gain their loyals back....i love this price!!

  • Possibly the most beautiful game ever made. Now even more beautiful.

This is a very good thing.

  • As an aging gamer, I tire if these hd revisits, I rather get pseudo upgrades a la Super Mario Bros franchise. Yes, quote unquote "a lot" of people like one of several iterations of this game, but HD remake for better visuals for a 5 year old game is just, you know, just- - doesn't deserve a proper finishing sentence, that's how lethargic it makes me feel. And for you guys "loving"that Move support, im lmfao!! You ain't kidding no one, pm me ill gladly give ya mine.

  • Thank you Capcom!

  • I fully expect to see this in the UK as well. I missed this first time around due to being poor and a full time university student, now I have spare time and a second chance to play a game I really, REALLY wanted to play.

  • Nice! I last played this on the original PS2 release, so it's about time to give it another go--and in HD!

  • huh.well thats...thats a thing. I always thought okamii was a little bit overated in my opinion(I found it dragged on for too long and the end boss was not good enough) but I always looked the characters I did like and the artstyle was amazing.I do need to play it again I suppose.yes I can imagine myself getting this.
  • Cool

  • Can't wait for this!

  • I will most definitely be buying this one.  This was a fantastic game the first time around, and it's been years since I played it.  I have no doubt that the HD version will be worth the buy.

  • Wow this are good news! I will get it for sure, Okami is a master piece classic.

  • So much win!!!!! I'm stoked and definitely getting this.

  • Nice

  • I hope it's based off of the PS2 version, because the Wii version was lacking the awesome credits scene. Why is $19.99, though? I picked up both the PS2 and Wii versions of this game for $5.00 each

  • Hallelujah!!  Hopefully the HD version will fix some of the frame rate issues from the original.  Even so, I would have loved to have seen this on WiiU, since it could utilize the tablet for more accurate controls for the Celestial Brush, like in "Okamiden".

  • I literally gasped when I was this on the front page. Okami is my favorite game of all time, I can't wait for this! Now to convince my brother to let me borrow his PS3...

  • Yea, beyond excited for this HD remake! And for $20 :]

  • This game alone puts an end to the decades-old debate of whether or not video games are an art-form with a resounding YES!
