Update: Capcom confirmed the game is coming to North America and Europe this fall for $19.99. It's available through PlayStation Network. This HD version includes PlayStation Move and trophy support.

Per Capcom:

Ōkami HD brings Amaterasu’s epic tale to the PS3 with fully integrated HD graphics and 16:9 aspect ratio. The trademark sumi-e ink art style lends itself perfectly to HD allowing players to experience more of the awe-inspiring world displayed in greater detail than ever before.

Original story: Capcom is releasing a HD remaster of Okami for PlayStation later this year in Japan. Details were confirmed in the latest issue of Famitsu.

The game is called Okami Zekkie-ban, which roughly translates to Okami Magnificent Version. This version will have Move support, but It's unclear if this is based off the Wii release of Okami or the original PS2 game.

Capcom USA has not confirmed if Okami HD is coming to North America at this time.

    THANK YOU!! i was having a horrible day until now. i can only hope that it comes to NA, as im getting a PS3 this year. and how would "HD" work...?

    EDIT: And here it comes. with PERFECT timing. getting a PS3 next month :D

    I'm skeptical about the Move support (the motion controls for the Wii version did NOT play well), but other than that...

    I only kept two PS2 games when I sold my system: Okami and Persona 4. I would happily pay for a HD version

    Well this sucks, I already just played the Wii version. I wish they would have given us a much earlier heads up. Not really going to buy it again, even though the game was incredible. Once I play a game that was as incredible as Okami, I never play it again for fear of harming my memories of it.

    I bought an Okami avatar from the PlayStation store, had no clue what game it was from it just looked cool, now I know what this fire dogs from!

    Aw yeah! HD version of Okami, WITH the superior motion controls introduced in the Wii game? I'm there! I already played through this twice - once on PS2 with my college roommate, and again on my own on Wii. Seriously, the learning curve is higher, but the controls are much better than on PS2. I also played through, and loved, Okamiden on DS.

    I'm glad that Capcom hasn't forgotten this. This is very much like Beyond Good & Evil, where the re-releases are just building up the amount of people who have actually played them. Which is nothing but good news.
