The lights are on
We found out during E3 last week that The Old Republic's first 15 levels are going to be playable without the need to sign up for the game's monthly fee, but according to Emmanuel Lusinchi, the game's lead designer, that may just be the beginning of TOR's experimentation in the world of free-to-play gaming.
In an interview with GamesTM, Lusinchi said that the games that are starting to appear in the free-to-play landscape are increasing in quality, which means more competition for TOR. “The MMO market is very dynamic and we need to be dynamic as well," Lusinchi says. "Unless people are happy with what they have, they are constantly demanding updates, new modes and situations. So we are looking at free-to-play but I can’t tell you in much detail. We have to be flexible and adapt to what is going on.”
It doesn't so much sound like BioWare is planning to switch the game to the free-to-play model, as much as BioWare is expressing a willingness to adapt. Making the first 15 levels of the game playable for free, though, is certainly a good sign.

maybe I start playing but man it shows if they thinking about it that they have may have really fallen flat.
But it doesnt look that super interesting.
I'll come back if it goes entirely free to play. I just can't justify a $15/month game plus my 360 addiction =)
I hope people who have previously bought a subscription card/subscribed get some kind of reward besides the Founders Medal. I played for a while, but got out of it since, frankly, there were better games on the market. If this is indeed true, I may get back into it. To me,MMOs have always been farely casual, and so having to pay for a subscription and only playing every so often kind of kills them for me. That's why I'm looking forward to Guild Wars 2.
PLEASE DO THAT!!!
...I still rather have KOTOR 3
I may play it if that happens.
I may play again if it goes F2P.
this game is so much better than WOW people need to check it out, but it is alot better with friends
noicee id play if they did
I'll certainly play the first 15 levels just to check it out. After that, who knows.
I'd certainly play it for free. I loved KOTR 1 and 2 so much but am not really into pc gaming unless it's free... :)
Well may wait a moment. May just pay just a month before and get all of the goodies that those who did pay before it went free-to-play. As I was one of those who did in fact Pre-Order and had stopped for a month or so as TOR needs to catch up with other MMOs.
If they go Free to play I will go out and buy it immediately. SInce I pay for xbox live already, its hard for me to justify more subscription based gaming.
I will download this as soon as he goes f2p
Terrible, was so excited and wanted it to be better, played for 2 months and just couldn't handle it anymore, even if it goes Free 2 Play it wont bring me back in.
Crap if it does that i need fifty bucks! But yay yay yay!
what a shame considering that this game cost a shitload of money to make
If it goes F2P, I will get into the game. As of now, no thanks.
