Weekend Warrior 6/15/12

This weekend we have weddings to go to, games to play, zoos to rob (err... enjoy), and birthdays to party. Read on to see what the weekend has in store for the various people of Game Informer.

Ben Hanson: After finally getting past a difficult boss fight, I've rekindled my love affair with Xenoblade. I'm really looking forward to putting in some long hours of Xenobladin' and podcastin'. Other than that, I might play a bit more Diablo 3.

Andy McNamara: Going to watch the Nature Valley Grand Prix bike race in Uptown Minneapolis this evening, which will be the first bike race I have ever attended in person. Once the festivities end, it's off to the basement for Avenger's Chronicles Pinball and cocktails until I can't keep my eyes open. I've been dying to play these tables ever since our Zen Studio feature back in the Assassin's Creed III issue so any and all free moments this weekend will be spent with Marvel and the silver ball. Saturday morning I'm joining a group ride to Wisconsin - which should be quite long - then it's off to a BBQ dinner that leads into an evening with clan Dan as he celebrates his birthday party at various dive bars around Minneapolis. Sunday is for recovery and more pinball.

Jeff Marchiafava: After being too lazy to play any games after E3, I’ve got a full slate planned for this weekend. I’ll be playing some Borderlands with Jeff Cork and Bryan on Saturday, checking out some new Pinball FX 2 tables, and continuing Assasin’s Creed: Brotherhood, which I started this week after the exciting AC III demos we saw last week. Video games!

Ali Rapp: This weekend, I'm hosting a coloring party (Crayola or bust). Gaming-wise, I'll be sticking to handhelds like Oracle of Seasons because Sunday's lightning storm fried a part inside my TV and it's in the repair shop. I also recently started playing Amnesia with my boyfriend, so I suppose we'll play a little bit of that/I'll crap my pants in fear.

Tim Turi: This weekend I’m attending a wedding, so I’ll likely end up with a drink in my hand more often than a controller. If I can successfully carve out some time for games, however, I’ll definitely be playing Transformers: War for Cybertron. Playing Fall of Cyberton at E3 2012 got me excited, so I’m trying to catch up with High Moon’s last game in time for the new one’s fall release.

Jack Gardner: Tonight, I’ll be seeing Prometheus with my friend Josh. Tomorrow I continue my acid trip through El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron and spending some time on the StarCraft 2 ladder. For Father’s Day, I’m going to be taking my brother and his family out to the zoo to see dinosaurs.

  • Moar Diablo 3!

And some hanging out with friends at backyard BBQs. I'll try to make the best out of this 100+ degree weekend we're having in N. California.

I'll also be hoping for a hilarious Replay on Saturday. Since the Half Life Super Replay concluded I've been having withdrawals. Btw Ali, what exactly is a "coloring party"?
  • Luigi's Mansion. Marvel Ultimate Alliance with the roommate. Maybe something story driven.

But today is my last day at my current gig so I'll mostly be looking for work/ getting ready to enjoy my poor existence as an unemployed writer next week.

Anyone want me to write you something?
  • Gonna try out DC Universe Online, get some BF3 multiplayer in and celebrate Fathers Day on Sunday

  • Dragons dogma, fire emblem awakening, and some monster hunter 3g. Other than that probably biking.
  • Xenoblade is amazing!!
  • Finally done with finals, I can sit back in pure terror as I force myself to play Amnesia. Also looking for some good PSone Classics or PSP games on PSN to pick up for a plane ride next week, any suggestions?
  • ME3 MP and GRFS MP, as always. Maybe some FO3 and Skyrim prep for Dawnguard. Can't wait for the 26th!
  • Dark Souls!!!!!........and FIFA in between EURO 2012 matches, if I have the time that is.

Unfortunately I'll be spending most of my weekend working on my house. Don't ever buy a house kids. It isn't worth it. Even when you're done with a project, 10 more have piled up in the meantime. It seemingly never ends and I honestly feel no level of satisfaction after I'm done because I have to start another and they all cost money, lots of it. Yes, I really really resent my house and I miss my old 1 bedroom apartment. There I said it.
  • Playing through an OK Bioshock 2 after finishing a good, not great Shadow of the Colossus and a bad Ico. It's been a pretty meh gaming week.
  • I'm in Philip Rivers's 5K in San Diego on Saturday, and the rest of the weekend will be spent finishing Lollipop Chainsaw.

  • Probably going to play more GTA 4 and Max Payne 3, might also order my gaming PC this weekend, we'll see what happens.

  • Dinosaur reference, oh minneapolis zoo...

  • Might pick up Saint's Row The Third. I notice it's on sale. Or I'll see if my laptop can run ARMA II and buy that. Then promptly download the Day Z mod.
  • Unfortunately I work all weekend and have no time to play, BUT next week I'm up at the fire station for some days and I'll be able to continue my conquest in Castlevania: LOS then again for some trophies! :D

  • Just became a Playstation Plus member as of yesterday afternoon, so I'm going to take advantage of the pile of free games that they're offering this month. Besides that, I'll be on Battlefield 3 for most of the weekend, NBA 2K12, Ico/Shadow of the Colossus, and rooting against the Miami Heat in the NBA finals until my throat is sore.

Also, the Cubs are coming here to San Diego to trounce the Padres on August 6th, and the Naval base has seats behind the dugout for $55! I'm expecting my ticket as a Father's day gift this weekend. Hopefully, I won't be disappointed.
  • Thus starts my 2 week vacation! I'm thinking Darksiders and lots of it.

  • I'll be playing a whole lot of Skyrim here. Heading to some kind of military appreciation event in Delavan, WI on Sunday though, and might head out to squeeze a few rounds off with my K98 this weekend as well. My trigger finger is getting itchy.
  • Diablo 3 of course. Also on the list of things to do.... Sniper Elite V2 (it's alright, but should've waited for a steam sale), finish Lords of Shadow FINALY/HOPEFULLY if I get to it, and maybe even finish Red Dead Redemption... though with both of those I'll probably need to start over since they've been collecting dust for at least a year.... too many games in my back log. Yeah, i'm going to need more than just the weekend to make a dent.
  • Will be playing Darksiders. Having a good time and am pumped Mark Hamill is voicing the crazy helper thing. I just love him!!!!
  • Diablo 3 til my fingers bleed!
