The lights are on
Citizen's Bank is suing 38 Studios founder Curt Schilling after he allegedly promised to repay money borrowed from the bank.
According to a report from WRPI.com, the lawsuit was filed last Thursday in a Boston court, the same day 38 Studios declared bankruptcy. Citizens claims Schilling "personally guaranteed a $2 million letter of credit and a $350,000 corporate credit card the bank gave 38 Studios," which both 38 Studios and Schilling refused to pay off.
"Schilling has failed and refused, and continues to fail and refuse, to satisfy the outstanding indebtedness," the complaint reads. WPRI.com has a nice roundup of all the details from lawsuit. Check out their story for more.
I guess they won't be coming out with another Kingdoms of Amalur game anytime soon.
This is terrible. A debt is a debt, gotta pay it off somehow.
Kingdoms......first and only.....well...poop
im sure that bank really needs that money what a bucnh of *** bags... dam i hate money hungry ceo's the world would be so much better is someone killed them all...
This is a very bad situation for all involved. Hopefully he took the necessary steps to protect his personal assets and this won't ruin him financially. Although he definitely (if true) should not have personally promised any repayments. This is gonna cost him a lot more money to get through. Good luck Curt.
Hey Game Informer...love you guys but do me a favor and find another photo to run every time you do a story about 38 Studios. I am tired of seeing a baseball legend who I admire considerably look like he just did an 8-ball and then ran the Tough Mudder competition (Courtroom Edition). Let's be a little more classy huh?
And he is definitely in a ridiculously high bracket. You know, because in America we take the most from those who worked hardest for it and give it to people need help getting back on their feet......or suck on the government teet the rest of their lives.
I had a grand old time with Kingdoms of Amalur, here is to hoping some other studio makes the sequel of some sorts.
God this story sounds like a bad conspiracy crackpot.
seriously from all I heard it sounds more and more like he was setup for this.
WoW dude looke like to got problems big time
Freakin' heartbreaking. I remember listening to The Instance podcast when he would join Scott and Randy and talk about starting 38 Studios and Project Copernicus with such genuine enthusiasm. I doubt he could ever have imagined it'd go down like this.
Well, that's not going to end well.
Goodbye 38 Studios. You will be somewhat missed.
This guy looks about as bad as a man possibly can. The stress must be smacking this guy in the face 24/7. I don't necessarily understand this whole, "I swear I'll pay you back," thing, but if it was in writing (which I imagine it was.. hopefully), they're gonna be stripping the copper from the walls.
Crash and burn Schilling. Crash and burn.
man. and Amalur was such an awesome game.
