Bank Sues Curt Schilling For $2.4M

Citizen's Bank is suing 38 Studios founder Curt Schilling after he allegedly promised to repay money borrowed from the bank.

According to a report from WRPI.com, the lawsuit was filed last Thursday in a Boston court, the same day 38 Studios declared bankruptcy. Citizens claims Schilling "personally guaranteed a $2 million letter of credit and a $350,000 corporate credit card the bank gave 38 Studios," which both 38 Studios and Schilling refused to pay off.

"Schilling has failed and refused, and continues to fail and refuse, to satisfy the outstanding indebtedness," the complaint reads. WPRI.com has a nice roundup of all the details from lawsuit. Check out their story for more.

  • Man, things just keep getting worse and worse for this guy.

  • Too bad. They made a pretty good game too.
  • This avalanche is reaching epic proportions... seriously, the guy obviously can't pay his debts...
  • Ugh it pains me to see such a promising studio go down this way. I really like Amalur, hopefully someone will buy the I.P. and make a sequel.
  • Could he sell that bloody sock for a few million?
  • Owwwwwwwch! I can't believe he's got so much debts he never paid off. So muh suspense and intensity for this dude.

  • I feel sorry for that guy
  • I feel sorry for that guy

  • Kinda like watching a slow motion train wreck. I feel really bad for all those who lost their jobs. Hopefully this gets resolved before it gets any worse.
  • He should suggest to the bank IOU's and tell them they're just as good as real money.
  • Does this fall under an 'investment'? How can Citizens Bank sue Curt for their investment which had no guarentee of a profit? I find this very ironic, unless I'm not understanding this correctly.
  • Maybe EA could lend them the cash to pull them out of the fire, oh, wait...

  • Noooo....

  • what a mess
  • Mod
In a totally not related story, Curt Schilling has announced he is coming out of retirement to pitch for the Yankees.
  • Lame.

  • Messy stuff

  • Name change in order, perhaps..?
    Curt Shilling.
    :P
  • Curt should probably go pitch for the Red Sox another year to pay this off.
  • This makes me sad :( I mean, he shouldn't have messed around with money he didn't have, but it still makes me sad that it's come to this.
