The lights are on
Developer Oddworld Inhabitants was hard at work at releasing a HD remake of the original Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. Now, the team has decided to completely reboot the game.
"We decided to reboot it, not just an HD update to the original PS1 title, this is a NEW game. It will be getting it's first public showing LATER this year, with a release date of NEXT summer (2013)," the developer said through Facebook.
The team later clarified, "It is a remake of the original PS1 title, however we have started it from scratch using the original as a blueprint... Ok?"
So... They CAN make PS1 HD remakes. But they did switch to a reboot...
why? wasn't it 2d? not much you can add to that really, unless its gonna be 3d, which would be awesome.
Loved the original games. Will be interesting to see how they remake the games from scratch.
I am sh*tting my pants right now. I'm doing so with excitement to be clear.
I still haven't played Stranger's Wrath.....
Perhaps they realised the assets just weren't up to scratch to meet today's expectations... it's a pity more developers can't seem to reach the same conclusion.
so let me get this straight after fourteen years since its original duet of oddworld on the ps1 and the great excitement of the oddworld quintology which was just two more sequals with stranger's wrath and me looking and waiting 4r the quintology to happen it looks like i'll be in a clod grave before that happens or see that happen ive have had enough disapointment in my life to look forward to something like this but , go ahead i'll just be back hear commenting a big i told u so in all capital letters and a few hahahahahahah's......................

Woohoo! i so remember playing this on my ps1 back in the day ^^ and i hope for a nice looking game as its a remake!!
Awesome, I'll be happy to pick this game up again when it releases.
Would have be nice if they made a sequel or prequel to Stranger's Wrath
Love that game.
Does anyone else remember the guy that played and beat this game? Funny thing is, he was a BLIND man. It was a pretty amazing feat.
I'm new, so sorry if I'm not supposed to be posting links.
cool cult classic
Hoping for the same basic concept, but not on the 2-D plane. 3-D puzzle/adventure games FTW!
oooohhhhh.... i can't wait. i loved the first one, but it made me want to pull out my hair on occasion. i remember being stuck on certain puzzles for days! and, y'know, it'd be nice to see on the Vita... (not so subtle hint)
