Blizzard Warns Diablo III Cheaters

Blizzard has made it known it will not tolerate cheating in Diablo III. The company published a warning today and said it will begin issuing bans and suspensions in the near future.

"If a Diablo III player is found to be cheating or using hacks, bots, or modifications in any form, then as outlined in the Diablo III end user license agreement, that player can be permanently banned from the game," Blizzard said. "This means that the player will be permanently unable to log in to Battle.net to play Diablo III with his or her account."

Playing Diablo III legitimately means playing with an unaltered game client, Blizzard explained. "Doing otherwise violates our policies for Battle.net and Diablo III, and it goes against the spirit of fair play that all of our games are based on. We strongly recommend that you avoid using any hacks, cheats, bots, or exploits."

  • And yet, I don't care because they won't let us play offline.
  • Funny, a lot of people I know have already had there accounts hacked and nothing has happened to those peeps responsible
  • I hope they ban someone for 20 years.
  • maybe if it wasn't a mandatory online game people wouldn't be able to hack accounts and "cheating" would be regular old modding.
  • It's a self-contained campaign game. Who could you possibly hurt besides Blizzard's RMT-scheme for the Auction House? There is no PvP so its not like you can have an unfair advantage, I don't get it.
Oh I see now, for account hacks. Then, doesn't this just underscore that "always online" was just "always a bad idea"?
  • Funny... because in D2 the cheaters mostly played offline... See how things come back to bite you in the butthole Blizzard?!?!? Anyways, D3 sucked anyways. Not sure why anybody would care about this news.
  • In the near future? That's a good way to let the hackers know that, at least for now, they can safely hack and not worry about any repercussions.
  • I hate cheaters....so good for blizzard!!

  • In other words if you want to cheat get a second pirated copy to do so.
  • ****Fingers crossed for offline mode seeing as Blizzard's DRM has failed on all fronts***********
  • Maybe Its Probably because they don't want to attract SOPA/PIPA, and destroy their whole fun online gaming.
  • That's all nice and dandy...I'll start caring when they actually DO something about the gold spammers that I continuously see even after blocking them 5 times >_> between that and people still getting hacked even with authenticators they better do something quick or its going to be a ghost town when some other games come out coughguildwars2cough
  • Im really glad they are doing that i hate people that cheat.

  • And so the pain begins..........

  • So basically cheat now, or forever hold your peace

  • This is so dang stupid. I think everyone can agree with me that when you play one play through of a game to the fullest. You look up some cheats, add your own stuff and play it again. Just so you can dominate and have fun. But no they want it all online. I have been hacked and now I got to use a authenticator and have had no reply from blizzard saying that this person was punished when I gave them the new "friend" I made in the 15 minutes my account was hacked -_-

  • I should know, I've already been hacked. And they haven't done a single thing to ban or punish the people responsible, and I even know who did it. So they really need to get on this.
  • Well good.

  • Ban ALL the things!
