The lights are on
The next generation of gaming hardware is on the horizon, even though none of the major console manufacturers were talking about it at E3. If you want to see what the future holds for your in-game graphics (not just cutscenes), watch this demo video of Unreal Engine 4 and be amazed. The short sequence is called "Elemental" for reasons that are clear once you press play.
Epic Games has said that we shouldn't expect Unreal Engine 4 to ship until next year (at the earliest), so games actually using the technology are even further out. Even with a wait, it's practically impossible for a gamer to watch footage like this and not be excited.

Looks great. But I have to say the demo for 1313 was much more impressive. Using UE3 too. So impressive to be sure, but it probably would have made me more excited to see an actual game run it, instead of a WoW/LOTR fan trailer.
At about the 40 second mark the figure there looks like the Lich King without the ice.
I remember thinking The Witcher 2 and Battlefield 3 had great graphics. After watching this they seem outdated.
Looks about as good as Cryengine.
Oh my goodness
Looked great but for some reason kinda looks phony to me, idk
That was beautiful.
anybody else get an infinity blade vibe?
This is the best quality I have ever seen but I watched it on my Iphone it still had great quality and now watching it on my desktop pc I am blown away!!
Well, given it's the UE4 engine that created this cut scene, you can expect game play to be the same. Developers often use CG animation for cut scenes to make them look better than the in game graphics. Take God of War 3 for instance, the cut scenes were created using the game engine so they had more continuity and flow between them and the game play itself. Big props to Epic!! Nice work and cant wait to see what this next gen looks like. I still find myself amazed at some current gen games.
This Honestly reminds me of World of Warcraft. Mostly cuz of the way that mountain looks like the frozen throne.
The Elder Scrolls VI?? :D hahah
So, that's all real time, in-game footage?
Unreal is the only word for it. The particle effects alone were astounding!
looks amazing, the stills that were posted a while ago didn't do it justice
