Star Wars: The Old Republic Goes Free

by Matt Miller on Jun 04, 2012 at 10:36 AM

You won't be able to hit level cap, but soon you'll be able to visit that galaxy far, far away without paying for a limited trial.

BioWare took advantage of EA's E3 press conference to reveal some mostly minor details about upcoming content on the way to The Old Republic, including the reveal of a new exploreable planet for players that will let you learn more about the Hutt Cartel.

More significantly for many potential players, The Old Republic will receive a free-to-play version this July, in which gamers can take characters up to level 15 without any cost.

While The Old Republic has lost some subscribers after the initial rush in the early months after launch, the game continues to go strong, and it's clear BioWare is still adding new content on a regular basis. Will the chance to play for free be enough to make you give the Star Wars MMO a try?
