Valve announced this morning that the next version of Counter-Strike, dubbed Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, will hit PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and both PC and Mac on Steam for approximately $15 on August 21 of this year.

Courtesy of Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment (Counter-Strike: Source, Defense Grid: The Awakening), CS:GO is intended to introduce the classic adversarial shooter to new audiences with updated versions of content that CS players have been shooting each other for nearly 13 years.

CS:GO also includes the features gamers expect out of a modern online game: matchmaking, leaderboards, and the like.

15$ for a game like this? A triple A title from one of the biggest publishers in the world for only 15$? A game with new mechanics and a redone engine. We haven't had another CS for years and this is 15$? Why can NO ONE else do this? No, Activision, I'm not going to pay for another yearly game for 60$ + another 60$ for map packs.

I've played the beta quite a bit and I'll definitely buy this game on release. The only question is if I should get it for Xbox or PC, or both... Probably just Xbox.

13 years and I've only been a part of one of them (2011-2012). Not missing the boat this time around. I've enjoyed the beta enough for what it is. $15 is a bargain considering CS 1.6 is only $10 and CS:S is still $20.

oh no! console gamers getting to play valve games? valve releasing a major title on the cheap? another entry in a well known and loved series? this will be worse than left 4 dead, the orange box and portal combined! if you can't tell, i'm seriously upset about this :|

The new counter strike for 15 dollars..... I LOVE YOU VALVE SOOO MUCH!!! :D And to top it off, they're making DOTA 2 free to play. Valve is my favorite game company. WHY WON"T YOU GUYS RELEASE HL3? COMON GABEN!!!
