Today, Warner Bros. Studios announced that it is releasing a new game developed by Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm Studios titled Injustice: Gods Among Us.

The game is set in the DC universe and according to WB, players will be able to play as both heroes and villains in a world where "the lines between good and evil are blurred." The fact that it is being developed by NetherRealm, immediately conjures images of the classic Mortal Kombat series which they developed in recent years. However, WB has stated that the game contains "epic battles on a massive scale," which is extremely different from the one-on-one fighting games that the developer is known for.

Whatever the style of this game is, the President of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment declares that Injustice: Gods Among Us will be "unlike any other in the fighting genre" and will involve rich storytelling and a large cast of DC favorites.

The game is scheduled for release in 2013 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Wii U, and poses the question: "What if our greatest heroes became our greatest threat?"

So its a DC fighting game?? Color me intrigued!!

EDIT: nvm after watching that reveal trailer it looks like an edgy DC fighting game like MK Vs. DC which wasnt very good in my opinion.....but hey maybe ill change my mind

Very cool. Although it was far from perfect, I enjoyed Mortal Kombat vs. DCU a lot. I hope this will up the ante and do enough new things to be everything that game could have been.

I want to say I am excited. But I have know I idea what I am exited for, and I doubt the same team from Netherealm who worked Mortal Kombat 9 would be making a game with "epic battles on a massive scale" so I don't really have any quality insurance. So I guess I will just wait and see?

Edit: Never mind they got a trailer on gamespot.... and it looks like a 3d fighting game, I am worried.

New 52 costumes, they look nice. Batman kicking Solomon Grundy through the building in that GameSpot trailer was hilarious. I hope this new game doesn't get patched to oblivion like MK9. It should be awesome anyways.

I think we can all admit the new Mortal Kombat was the best fighting game in years. And this is coming from a die hard MvC fan. *pulls out camera* Neat.

MK 9 was damn good, both in fighting mechanics/gameplay and the storymode, which was very ambitious for a fighting game. I'm a little worried about gameplay and less worried about the story. Maybe it'll be Warner Bros/NetherRealm's take on Kingdom Come with the New 52 universe
