The lights are on
A settlement has been reached between Activision and former Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella.
An attorney for the case confirmed to Game Informer a settlement between the parties, which includes Activision, Jason West, Vince Zampella, and the Infinity Ward Employee Group, was reached this afternoon, but was unable to provide further details. The terms of the deal are strictly confidential.
"The company does not believe that the incremental one-time charges related to the settlement will result in a material impact on its GAAP or non-GAAP earnings per share outlook for the current quarter or the calendar year, due to stronger-than-expected operating performance in the current quarter," Activision said.
A spokesperson for EA issued the following statement to Game Informer: “Activision’s refusal to pay their talent and attempt to blame EA were absurd. This settlement is a vindication of Vince and Jason, and the right of creative artists to collect the rewards due for their hard work.” Activision reached a settlement with Electronic Arts earlier this month.
Game Informer recently conducted an interview with Jason West and Vince Zampella where the duo talks about their side of the story. You can read about it here.
Settlement huh? At least it's over, for now.
oh didn't see that coming
i' m surprised they didnt litigate until west and zampella were broke
I am very happy for West and Zampella, and I believe this decision shall stand as a step towards strengthening the position of developers and the security of their rights. Glad its finally over for them and their former co-workers.
If you translate the Activision quote into English it basically says that they just had to pay out a butt load of money but they don't want the investors to get worried. Hopefully this will be the end of it but if what West and Zampella said in their interview is even half true then I think we can expect Activision back in court for something very soon unless they seriously overhaul their leadership.
Show me Respawn's game!
I think it's garbage that the deal is confidential. Activision are bullies, plain and simple. They should have been displayed for the world to see what a dirty company they are.
I hope they got every cent that was owed to them.
FINALLY!!! About time!
Indeed finally reached a settlement.
Really wish we could hear the details to know what really went down.
From the very beginning it sounded like Activision didn't have a case and this proves it.
From what I have read. Criminal Charges should have been brought up against Bobby Kotick, Thomas Fenady, and a few others. What they did was nothing short of Corporate misconduct. Gaining access to an employee's email, and reading them, without a court order is criminal in any sense of the word.
