Activision Reaches Settlement With West, Zampella

A settlement has been reached between Activision and former Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella.

An attorney for the case confirmed to Game Informer a settlement between the parties, which includes Activision, Jason West, Vince Zampella, and the Infinity Ward Employee Group, was reached this afternoon, but was unable to provide further details. The terms of the deal are strictly confidential.

"The company does not believe that the incremental one-time charges related to the settlement will result in a material impact on its GAAP or non-GAAP earnings per share outlook for the current quarter or the calendar year, due to stronger-than-expected operating performance in the current quarter," Activision said.

A spokesperson for EA issued the following statement to Game Informer: “Activision’s refusal to pay their talent and attempt to blame EA were absurd.  This settlement is a vindication of Vince and Jason, and the right of creative artists to collect the rewards due for their hard work.” Activision reached a settlement with Electronic Arts earlier this month.

Game Informer recently conducted an interview with Jason West and Vince Zampella where the duo talks about their side of the story. You can read about it here.

  • Wow. A settlement? Finally?

Seems like this case has gone on forever.

Or should I say, as long as the Call of Duty franchise.
  • Well it's about friggin time.

  • You guys think Activision was sweating the closer the court date was getting? I don't even know what to speculate.
  • i reallu wonder what happened
  • Well that was anti-climatic. I was hoping for a betrayal, one of them dying, explosions, and another year to see the end of it all. Then four packs of extra stuff, just so you'll keep paying attention, for $15 each.
  • Man, I thought I wouldn't live to see the day...

  • Now I hope we can hear news on their new game.

  • Unfortunately, Activision will retain the right to COD as part of the settlement guaranteed. Most likely they paid West and Zampella a boat load of money to just go away. The good news is they now have the funds to pursue their own IP and get back to what they do best. Can't wait to see what they come up with!
  • I'm glad this is over! Also, I really hope they don't keep the settlement details a secret. I'd love to know what the terms were.
  • I hope this means good news for West and Zampella...

  • well, when it was reported that Activision had people trying to find things to nail West and Zampella, they pretty much were going to lose the case because they were finding reasons to get rid of them...hope west and zampella got paid...

  • It's like Activision doesn't have money or anything...

  • finally, i really want them to get back to game making

  • *** you u cunts (activision), don't matter if you hire a super jew-lawyer, he wont get you the money you so desperately crave for.

  • ^ wow. Disgusting.
  • Well they look happy in the pic so I guess it was a positive settlement for them at least.
  • So how long before Activision is involved in another lawsuit? I'm gonna say a week or two.

  • i'm reminded of Shane McMahon's entrance music when he was wrestling in the WWE...
  • Fantastic!
