Warner Announces Guardians Of Middle-Earth

Warner Bros. Interactive today announced Guardians of Middle-earth, a downloadable multiplayer online battle arena game being developed by Monolith Productions. The game includes more than 20 characters and supports five-on-five battles.

Some of the playable guardians include Gandalf, Sauron, Gollum, and Thráin, and Warner says players can expect tie-ins to Peter Jackson's upcoming film The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

The game is due out this fall on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. Look for more details next week as E3 festivities begin.

  • ohh Gandalf wow can't wait to play as him

  • I wonder if it will be 2D like Awsomenauts or 3D like League of Legends.

  • I got excited as soon as I read that Gandalf is a playable character!
  • I was personally hoping for another mk...

  • I saw Gandalf and "Announces" and got really excited thinking it was a Lord of the Rings RPG like "The White Council" that they cancelled, or something else like that.  Oh well.

  • At this point the majority of Lord of the Ring games are just shameless cash ins. I have a feeling this is one of them.
  • I love Lord of the rings but I'm going to pass on this.

  • Teras Kasi all over again. Way to Lucas it up, Jackson.
  • at least they are trying to make LOTR based games

  • Gollum is a playable character? Must be because of his obvious prowess when it comes to battle.
  • I feel like at this point the game can go either way...There have definitely been some decent LoTR games but there have also been some not-so-decent ones as well...I for one really liked the idea behind LoTR Conquest but the execution was a bit lacking. If they can capture the magic that I know the team behind Conquest was trying to, then I think they have a winner on their hands.
  • Best LOTR game was The Third age, awesome game
  • Really having trouble imagining this...

  • Come on, show us some gameplay or at least a screenshot!

  • Should have some interesting gameplay. Definitely has my attention.

  • Well the art always looks good for LOTR games but the games themselves alway seem to be lacking something.  Here's to hoping for the best!

  • Terrible idea

  • i love Lord of the Rings but personally, there hasn't been a good LOTR in a while.

  • cool but its going to suck like most lord of the rings games
