Warner Announces Guardians Of Middle-Earth

Warner Bros. Interactive today announced Guardians of Middle-earth, a downloadable multiplayer online battle arena game being developed by Monolith Productions. The game includes more than 20 characters and supports five-on-five battles.

Some of the playable guardians include Gandalf, Sauron, Gollum, and Thráin, and Warner says players can expect tie-ins to Peter Jackson's upcoming film The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

The game is due out this fall on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network. Look for more details next week as E3 festivities begin.

I saw Gandalf and "Announces" and got really excited thinking it was a Lord of the Rings RPG like "The White Council" that they cancelled, or something else like that. Oh well.

At this point the majority of Lord of the Ring games are just shameless cash ins. I have a feeling this is one of them.

I feel like at this point the game can go either way...There have definitely been some decent LoTR games but there have also been some not-so-decent ones as well...I for one really liked the idea behind LoTR Conquest but the execution was a bit lacking. If they can capture the magic that I know the team behind Conquest was trying to, then I think they have a winner on their hands.
