The lights are on
If you're playing Diablo III, you're definitely not alone. According to Activision Blizzard, the action-RPG has broken day-one PC sales records, selling more than 3.5 million copies of the game in 24 hours. And that's just the beginning.
When you include players who got the game as part of the World of Warcraft annual pass, that number jumps to 4.7 million players worldwide on the game's first day. Diablo III has sold more than 6.3 million copies in its first week.
"Regarding today's announcement, we recognize that setting a new launch record is a big achievement," said Mike Morhaime, Blizzard founder and CEO. "However, we're especially proud of the gameplay feedback we've received from players worldwide. We're pleased that Diablo III has lived up to players' high expectations, and we're looking forward to welcoming more players into Sanctuary in the days ahead."

Wow, that's really impressive. That's so many copies!
Blizzard is alway ready to toot their own horn, I mean it's been 12 years since the last one did they think that fanboys wouldn't lose their minds over a new game?
Not sure if its entirely accurate to gauge day one sales of a game with quality content. Especially when it comes to over due sequels to a long standing franchise. At that point it is just the fame of the predecessor that makes people go instabuy crazy. So as far as them patting themselves for "meeting the high expectations" seems like a laugh.
Decent game but not worth 60 bucks with such limitations (sever lags and disconnects/ need internet connection to run game at all)
Wow, that's a ton of sales! Congrats Blizzard! Now just try to fix all the issues and the game will be gold.
I hope the game industry wakes up, and see that there are PC_gamers out there who want to pay for their game if its a good game, if its worth the money, not a stupit console rip-off.
3.5 million of people in the first 24 hours were in _hell_. few of them could enter easily, some other were only at the gate. queuing. waiting for punishment while trying to memorize those error codes.
Playing D3 is guilty pleasure to me.. something doesn't feel right. It should be better than this.
That's pretty sweet
Of course this game is one of the best pc games I've played in my 16 year old life!!!
Was anyone expecting any less? This is Diablo III after all.
