Payday Dev Teams Up With Valve

Payday: The Heist developer Overkill announced it's collaborating with Valve on a new game that's said to be a blend between Payday and Left 4 Dead.

“As perceptive gamers will have noticed, several hints have recently been dropped into Payday: The Heist, which has led to various rumors," said Overkill game director Ulf Andersson. "We are excited to be able to confirm that an in-depth collaboration between Overkill and Valve is currently in production."

He added: "We are working on a very cool blend of Payday and Left 4 Dead. I am sure it is so exciting that it will have some players check into the hospital before we are done.”

No other details were revealed at this time.

  • This sounds really amazing. I'm looking forward to this.
  • Two dev's who have worked on exclusives for competing consoles collaborating on a game that has the best of both? I am intrigued. I wonder which platforms it'll be on.
  • Sounds like this could be great...I've been waiting for l4d3 anyway so a new blend might be exactly what cake needed

  • So we'll be robbing banks and fighting off zombie cops? I don't think that's been done before.
  • Left 4 day? Or paydead? Anything involving valve and l4d2 is a thumbs up in my book.

  • Robbing banks filled with zombies and other assorted monsters? Sign me up!

  • I can't wait till 2017!

Cliché Valve joke aside, I really am excited for this game.  L4D2 is one of my favorite games this generation, so I'll be scouring the internet for more details on this.

  • Or... you know, YOU COULD HELP THEM FINISH HL3?!?!?!? We get it Valve, you're creative and you put all other developers to shame with the fact that you can leave an awesome IP behind and create other awesome IP's. BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WE NEED HALF LIFE 3!!!!! COME ON GABE!!!

  • Hmmm....Nnnnnnn'terestiiiiiing.

  • I can only assume that they'd keep the "Left 4 Dead" moniker, unless Valve really does have something against the number 3.

  • Interesting. To my knowledge, Valve hasn't really done much collaboration in the past when it comes to game development. It'll be cool to see what comes out of this project.
  • Can't wait to see why Valve has hidden up their sleeves this time!
  • This is a bit off subject, but doesn't that laughing sun in the 'O' of their logo look like Starbreeze's insignia?
  • Sounds amazing and very interesting. Looking forward to hearing a lot more on this.

  • Wait, Payday is a blend of L4D and awesome heists, if you combine L4D and Payday, you either get, bank heists with zombies, or, Payday, again...

  • If it's on PS3 I'll probably check it out.

  • So we can count on zombies then??? :P

  • 2 teams, 2 words, ALIEN INVASION

  • when playing the demo for Payday all i could think of was how it was exactly like Left 4 Dead. i was a little disappointed in Payday. with such a great premise i guess it was doomed to not live up to my expectations, but teaming up with Valve will give them great resources.
