Ron Gilbert Teases New Content From His Double Fine Game

Update: Ron Gilbert has updated his blog with two new characters over the weekend. Meet (from left to right) The Adventurer and The Scientist. Gilbert didn't offer any information about the two characters, saying only that he is crazy for updating his blog over the weekend. I think he's right. What kind of person sits around on a Sunday afternoon updating a website? That person would have to be crazy.

---------------------------------------

We got a small tease back in November, and a physical puzzle earlier this month, and now Ron Gilbert is releasing character concept art for a few of the characters of his upcoming project with Double Fine.

From left to right above we have, The Monk, The Hillbilly, and The Time Traveler. Gilbert describes The Monk saying, "Yeah.... He's all about peace and enlightenment," The Hillbilly as, "Oh no! It's The Hillbilly!," and doesn't offer any meaningful description about The Time Traveler.

Outside of these few character concept designs, we really know nothing about Gilbert's game, other than him saying, "This is an idea that has been in my head for a long long long time. It predates Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island. It's a game that needed to be made."

We should find out more at E3.

  • FIRST! Also, this is a weird idea.
  • I'm starting to like the looks of this.

    OH NO!, IT'S THE HILLBILLY!!!

  • I don't know anything about double fine but here is what i think Character one: Reminds me of someone who would be in Street fighter or soulcaliber, but more cartoon. Character 2: Looks like a mix between a southern person and for some reason Jak came to my head Character 3: Samus? I got it! New soul caliber with the new character being Samus. I want a marvel vs capcom 4 to. Just sayin.
  • I like the design of the characters..

  • meh.

  • Too often do people cling to dreams and ideas from their past in the hopes of one day having means to realize it. Along the way life happens, we compromise, we change, we grow..our dreams change. I sincerely hope I didn't help kick start a project that really belongs to the era in which it as conceived and not today, 2012. There has literally been a revolutionary change in game design/art/mechanics etc since whenever Ol Gilbert thought this mysterious game up...let's hope he takes advantage of that rather than clinging to some early-career dream...incidentally if he couldn't get this game sold/made several years ago..why is NOW suddenly a time for it too work? Cause you finally have the cash? That being said, I dumped $ into kick starter cause I believe in Tim Schafer. And if Tim trusts him with his companies rep than that outta be enough for me. Let's hope for the best!

  • Does everyone else realize that by the puzzle pieces there has to be at least one more character? Or is it just me?
