The lights are on
Patent applications from Nintendo for a redesigned Wii U controller surfaced earlier this year, and now a picture of the actual controller has appeared online. The image was posted on a Twitter feed of a QA tester at TT Games, but has since been removed.
The biggest change from the old controller (pictured below) to the new controller are the control sticks instead of circle-pads. It also looks like there may be a few new buttons and logos here and there.
This does not necessarily represent the final design of the Wii U controller. We will likely find out more about whether or not the controller has received an update next month at E3.

Pretty cool. I just hope they utilize the touch screen in a way to make it fun and useable. Since they've talked so much about it, it could make or break the experience.
still seems rather big to work around
I never had a problem with the circle pad, but I like this much better, especially if they also function as L3/R3 buttons.
Hmm... I am still intrigued...
YES! Finally! It is great thing that they changed the analogue sticks! When I play with my 3DS, my thumb starts hurting after a while if I play with it like how I play with a system with that analogue stick. The original wasn't bad but this is better!
I want one.
Yay! Control sticks! One step closer to competitive online gaming, Nintendo!
I think the circle pads were much more appropriate for a controller of this size.
I still don't like the placement of the analog sticks where they are. It's seems sort of annoying to have the face buttons below the sticks.
i think it looks awesome
The controller looks like a system in itself, but I guess that's what they were going for.
