The lights are on
This is what you can expect out of next-gen console hardware. Welcome to the future.
Tech publication Wired has obtained a fresh set of screens from the graphics engine Epic Games is preparing for the next round of consoles, as well as interviews with Epic technology master and co-founder Tim Sweeney and design director Cliff Bleszinski.
"There is a huge responsibility on the shoulders of our engine team and our studio to drag this industry into the next generation," Bleszinski told Wired. "It is up to Epic, and Tim Sweeney in particular, to motivate Sony and Microsoft not to phone in what these next consoles are going to be. It needs to be a quantum leap. They need to damn near render Avatar in real time, because I want it and gamers want it—even if they don’t know they want it."
Stay tuned for the July issue of Game Informer, coming to a mailbox (or inbox) near you as E3 kicks off next month, where we drop some next-gen details of our own.
Wow those are really great! Now I challenge Epic to never put out another game where all they guys look like they are on steroids and all the stupid, needless swearing. I'm not impressed when they have that crap going on.

All these comments about "it looks just as good as X game and Y game" are redundant. In the article it talks about how UE4 will reduce production times drastically as it allows artists more freedom over object behaivour, dynamic lighting, complete removal of "baking" which sometimes wastes an hour of a coders time, and would turn a year production now into, say, eight months due to removal of unneccesary time wasters. I wouldn't complain about an engine that could complete God of War Ascension in half the time :/ Having dynamic effects on screen such as embers and lava destruction seems pretty cool, and with UE4 they could easily make the sandstorms that were unable to be put in games like Uncharted 3 due to technical restraints. This makes me excited as Uncharted 3 was amazing, but with better sand effects and dynamic lighting it would be even better.
That is sexy.
Its nice to see the great motivation. Keeps us fans happy ^-^

What can I say except that the Unreal team has done it again. I'm really excited about the next gen consoles and can't wait to see what some of my favorite developers like BioWare, Rockstar and Bethesda are going to bring to the table. Next- gen Elder Scrolls (single-player) FTW.

If a game looks good to me, that's just a bonus. Focus more on story and game play. That's what makes a game great.
