Activision Reaches Settlement With EA Over Call Of Duty

Activision and Electronic Arts have reached a settlement in the on-going Call of Duty lawsuit that began two years ago.

Details about the settlement today were not disclosed at this time. Activision's request to delay the trial date after hiring a new lawyer, Beth Wilkinson, was also denied. The original court date of May 29 will continue. The case now includes former Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella and the Infinity Ward Employee Group.

EA was accused of aiding West and Zampella's departure from Activision. EA will now be removed from the lawsuit.

Activision recently paid out $42 million to the Infinity Ward Employee Group earlier this week.

  • I wish I had 42 million dollars.
  • looks to me as if west and zampella might come out of this clean i thought bobby kotick had those two guys caught red handed but i guess this will be over soon with kotick paying them enough money to buy a small country for the rights to the modern warfare IP thats whats this is all about besides unpaid royalties.
  • How did EA help them leave? Besides, is headhunting even illegal?
  • Nice to hear that things turned out so well for western zampella team. They got their long over due raises, sweet!
  • Glad to see this fiasco is about to reach its end.

  • It's.. Finally over.. *sniff*
  • It's about time. If you had $42M in USD, what would you do with it? I know I'm buying a super computer for gaming.
  • Praise be!, rejoice all ye fps fans: the battle is over!
  • It feels like every news bulletin GI has about Activision these days is either about a licensed game in development or about the ongoing litigation that never seems to end...

  • This might be the sign that Activision is probably scared what may come out of the trial case, unless I'm reading it wrong.
  • Dang it. I was hoping that they both would take a hit in this. When all Publishers wither and die, Bethesda will reign SUPREME!
  • It will be interesting to see the victor after the dust settles.

I would really like to see the terms of the settlement, but I found it odd that Activision wanted to add EA to the suit, because it seemed like that would just drag in EA's lawyers to potentially help out West's/Zampella's position.
  • Activsion sucks, if i we're offered a high paying job from them, i'd tell em all to shove it. Not worth it, too much drama and BS.
  • wow 2 years.

  • see war call of duty black ops 2 online war.

  • bout time they settled this thing

  • So im just gona be that angry guy in the backround,so, CALL OF DUTY!!!!...is bad.

  • Ooooo, this is heating up.

  • damn

  • zampela and west wont get a thing, they breached their contract and are dishonest people.
