Darksiders II Coming August 14

THQ clarified the release date for Darksiders II this afternoon. The game will ship on August 14, 2012.

CEO Brian Farrell noted that pre-sales for the game are up five times compared to the first Darksiders during the same time period. THQ also said Darksiders II will have double the marketing budget of the first title.

The game was originally scheduled to ship next month.

Comments
  • I thought this was already known?
  • YES! Can't wait for this, it looks awesome!
EDIT: Oh, I didn't know this was originally coming out next month:(
  • For now the game will ship on Aug. 14. Given the recent track record of THQ this could get pushed back even further. I really hope not because Death is such a cool character
  • One game to save THQ from being delisted by NASDAQ. I'll have Steam's Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye) on standby.
  • thq u can do it dont go down
  • YES!!!!!!!!!! it ships on my birthday and this is one of my most anticipated games of the year
  • 6 days before my birthday...
  • 4 days before my Bday, nice timing... One of my top 3 games this year.

  • August is a great time for this game. I cant wait to get it!!

  • I still haven't played the first game, but this one looks bad@ss.
  • just started replaying the original. what a bad ass game. i have plenty of problems with it, but still very cool. hopefully they can work out the kinks (make combat less repetitive) and make this game as amazing as it should be.
  • Cant wait

  • I despise THQ. I hold a special kind of hate for them, more so than any other publisher or developer on the face of the planet. If I had a dime for every single time they lied through their teeth, I'd probably have enough to buy most of their stock. That's pretty much why I hate them so much, they never, ever, seem to tell the truth.

Whether it's lying about why they need online passes, or lying about features in their games, or lying about free bonuses, only to pull them right before the game ships and not tell anyone. I can think of over a dozen instances in 2012 alone...And since I hate them so much, it pains me that they just happen to be publishing my two most anticipated games of the year. Darksiders 2 and Metro: Last Light.

Now I've long since stopped buying ANY THQ game new. I buy them all used. I won't support their manipulative business practices. On the other hand, Darksiders 2 and Metro: Last Light are sure to be some of my favorite games of all time (Since Darksiders is in my top 3 action games of all time, and Metro 2033 is in my top 2 shooters of all time). Because of this clashing of morals, I can't decide whether to rent these two games, or buy them new.

If I rent them, I will continue my refusal to give THQ a single dime, while the innocent developers get caught in the crossfire. If I buy the games new I will be supporting the developers, but funding THQ's anti-consumer business practices. Decisions decisions.
  • NOOOO! this can't be happening don't do this THQ! this is the second time they pushed darksiders 2 back >=[

  • I haven't pre-oredered this but I will be buying it day one one way or another.

  • i want this so bad epic freerunning a opren world slice n dice and wepon swicthing on the fly for guns blades compo dmc looting rpg well ill apperiate it more if i have to wait for it but this would have been a great carrot to dangle in front of my face to wait until the end of school

  • The wait for this game is killing me.  While I would like to play the game sooner, delaying the game will probably make for a better product.

  • Dang it! Six days after my birthday.

  • Good to know.

  • cool something to play in the summer
