The lights are on
Fans have been waiting forever it seems to see the latest on Sony's long-developed first-party game The Last Guardian.
It was reported last December that creator Fumito Ueda left the studio and was finishing the game on a contract basis. When we talked to head of Sony's worldwide studios Shuhei Yoshida in mid-February, he said of the game, "It’s making progress. There have been technical issues and the engineering team is reworking it. It’s playable, but not to the level of when we can say it’s coming."
This brings us to today. I asked Sony PR if there were any plans to show the game off at E3 next month. "The Last Guardian continues to be developed, however we have no news to share at this time with regard to the franchise and E3," a spokesperson told me.
Now, before you freak out, Sony isn't saying whether or not the game will be at E3. We'll to find out in a few weeks if the game is part of the company's press conference or not.
The Last Guardian is clearly in development hell and Sony isn't likely to show off the game again until things are stabilized and back on track. If they can't show it at E3, then SCEA president Jack Tretton needs to take the stage and at least reassure fans that Sony is still backing the project heavily.
What are your overall thoughts on The Last Guardian? Do you still care about this game? Should Sony move it to next-gen at this point or cut its losses and put out whatever the got?
If there is no news, I'll likely still put my pants on one leg at a time. The only difference will be that people will confuse the tear stains upon them for me having wet myself.
I won't be at E3, but I seriously can't wait for this game to come out. I'm pretty stoked about it. The same makers as Shadow Of The Colossus and ICO? H ell yes I want to play it. Those are two of my favorite games easily, and I'm sure this will be no different. I'm personally glad that they're putting in so much effort to make a product that's the best it can be. It indicates integrity, which is rare nowadays.
I have a feeling they might show it and will probably be released NEXT year, otherwise PS4 obviously!
As much as I want to play this game, if it isn't shown at E3 I'll still just continue on with my life because that's all it is, a game...one that I really want to play...especially after playing Ico and SotC for the 4th time each....Oh who am I kidding, I'll probably mope in a corner for a day or two, then continue on with my life.
It's been a no show for a while now. I'll live if I don't see it.
i'm not in a Rush for release,I got Resident Evil 6,The Last Of Us & Bioshock Infinite coming out to keep my busy.Plus i still need to play Skyrim & the new Batman so I'm not gonna worry about this game
nothing, because there will be enough good games I can looking for ^^
To shoot myself in the head and drink beer after that?
Nothing. I don't care about it.
i was originally intrested when it was first shown but its been so long i remember next no no reason why i was intrested ... idc if its at e3..if it ever does come out i'll wait for a review
what would I do? I probably still wouldn't give a f**k
Don't really care, never played their other games. They just looked tedious.
I don't think i can live on, if this game doesn't make an appearance at E3.
My live depends on it.
I'm willing to wait as long as it takes. If Ico and Shadow of Colossus are anything to go by it'll definitely be worth it.
I really hope this game gets released. I won't be too worried if it's not shown at E3 as long as they assure the fans that the game is still progressing. I really want to play this game and hope everything turns out well in the end.
I was really hoping to play this game this year, but as long as it comes out at all I'll be content.
Man, I loved Shadow, and I really want to play this. But all of the stuff goin on with it scares me.
I still believe. You gotta believe.
